razr v3 upgrade suggestion

Hi,
My blackberry has gone in for repair and my friend has kindly lent me a motorola razr v3.
I'm pretty happy with the functionality although he informs me that he got it updated with 'chinese sms' when he was in china, so whenever i try to compose a sms it brings up chinese characters. I've looked at the menu's and can't find how I swicth the chinese off, so I'm leaning on doing a flash update.

Current spec:
Morotola V3
s/w version R374_G_0E.40.64R
DSP s/w version 62212100
flex GSMV3xxT672VD057
Language List 0015

The phone is unbranded and unlocked. I believe he is on orange and i use t-mobile.
I want a update pack that does the following
1) stock branding
2) Language option for English (primary)
3) ability for me to switch back to chinese

will pack r374_r_0e.42.0er_a be what i'm looking for?
all suggestions welcome

Yes, all newer unlocked stock MP will work. like 42.0ER or 42.10R oe 42.17R. Best is probably the 42.10R. But you can't go back to the ancient 40.64R after.
Flashing is all explained in the guides. Have a look and if you are in any doubt, just ask,

To save the settings of the phone, use FB 3, and when you flash back later, only check the cg2 and the DRM as well as the Languagepack, to return to chinese. The firmware will not go back .

Also you must have english now, because all packs come with it by default. But it can be tricky to find. In new message, open the middle menu button to get to settings, and set Englisg as iTap1 there.

And the pack you asked for, i have never heard of that..

OER , was more in Europe, as a last resort. The latest European was 42.0CR officially. The others after were only US releases, and Asia.
And yes, I think the r371 is a typo
