V3 "No Service" after TP RFDI and PDS Repair
Searched here and haven't found anything about the problem on "No Service" after a full brick recovery. The phone was perfectly working well with no problem, no damage at all. Have tried all types of MP's, FW's and BL's up to the point of bricking it again, lol. Checked network settings and my SIM is fully working, removed from another working phone. Does any body know anything? It was working fine, now it isn't which must be a flashing file problem, seem, or something.

If you tried several MPs, a MP includes Flex which would replace SEEMs - therefore, if you have tried several MPs and the SIM works in another phone it sounds more like a hardware problem unfortunately. Most likely due to the disassembly for the TP - double check all the connections

If you have signal bars, service is being blocked by your carrier for some reason. If no signal bars are seen on your phone, likely hardware fault. If there is signal, try "search for available networks" in the network settings menu (may not be there).
Flash your original firmware (backup if you have it, check downloads section or google if you don't).Last edited by Saurus; 09-27-2011 at 11:22 AM.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, even did a full restore of the backup I did before the PDS was damaged (no pds backup lol) and nothing, sigh. Must be a fix though and will continue to try flashing all sorts of ways...

I don't think flashing is the answer - I would dismantle and recheck all connections

possibly shorted another part of the mobo, lets hope that is not the case here
while you have it apart check the antenna too. it's under the clear plastic casing with the brass clip.

Ok, I dismantled the whole bottom part of the phone until bare green board, cleaned all parts possible with rubbing alcohol and q-tips. Antenna with brass clip looks perfect, all contact clips around the corners looked fine and making contact around the aluminum casing. Everything looks great since it was never taken apart this far. The TP section that I made was just a cross sectional cut, I did not take the shielding apart, enough for contact, so no other points where exposed other than 2 transistors/resistors (one being the TP). Flashed once again, looked at old threads on "no service", flashed a couple mentioned there and....nothing. I have no idea what could it be. Phone works great and all but no service as in a soft/hard problem.

I've seen the No Service message only on AT&T phones using an unregistered sim. Doubt it's hardware, since it worked fine before the RFDI flash. Does the IMEI still match the label? (I flashed an RFDI on a V3i and the IMEI changed; haven't tried it since.) CDMA carriers have blacklists for bad serial numbers, may be something similar.

Yea, checked both soft IMEI and original sticker IMEI and they match perfectly. Can the IMEI be changed easily? If this isn't allowed then nevermind. Since you flashed a V3i file over the V3, does this mean that V3i files are compatible for V3 hardware? As of now I'm just flashing and modding my phone but no go.... I'll keep running circles around it.

changing the IMEI is illegal because that is the identity of the phone, also it is not so simple to do unless you have the proper tools anyway
v3i is not compatible with v3, if flashing did not fix the issue there must be a secondary problem. it is possible when performing the TP
you shorted the wrong point which in turn fried a chip pertaining to the antenna.
