    Bell Mobility's APN Issue

Ive been trying to use my Captivate with Bell. (Eclair, 2.1-update 1 from Odin) Voice and text works fine, but I need to get my data and MMS working.

I found the APN settings on Bell's site and they were also forwarded to me by a tech support rep as well. In the "MMSC" box I am instructed to input this:
    Name: Bell
    APN: pda.bell.ca
    Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port: 80
    Username: <Not set>
    Password: <Not set>
    Server: <Not set>
    MMSC: 5778154
    http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc

    MMSC proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
    MMS port: 80
    MCC: 302
    MNC: 610
    Authentication type : <Not set>
    APN type : <Not set>
The bold text is where I have the issue. The phone only gives me a one line text box for each value and no enter/return to put an extra line. Ive tried to input one or the other, tried adding spaces, ETC and I can't figure out a way to input this MMSC information. When I asked what the number meant and if it was entirely relevant (I could possibly just use the server?) The girl on the phone just kept saying "we don't support that" over and over again, and kept asking me to call Samsung.

Has anyone else successfully used a Captivate with Bell? What is this number and do I need it? If so, what does your APN settings look like? Thank you!

Tried this one a couple times and it did not work unfortunately =[ Thanks tho
Well apparently browser works now. Droidwall was blocking it mistakenly. I will have to test out MMS since thats my biggest thing I want working

I uninstalled Droidwall, Ill take my chances.
I cant use data browser and send MMS, but when someone send me one I get an alert and then I open the messaging and there's nothing there. Slowly moving forward =]

Well, I am on a computer and was able to visit the Bell Mobility Site. The settings they gave you are the ones on their site. I would suggest just typing a space after that MMSC number and adding the url. Try that and let me know how it goes.

Thanks a lot for your help. I tried that one on their site but no luck. Yours worked, people get my out going messages about 20 minutes after sending, and al the ones sent to me around 10pm yesterday arrived on my phone at 10am. That seems a little slow but its really better than not working! Is this maybe just the way Bell's service is? Im in the middle of a major city...o.O

Try leaving the "apn type" = NULL.

I have sent text messages back and forth between a phone on Bell Mobility and a phone on Telus and the time was less than a minute in both directions.
