2.1 Upgrading Help
I just bought a Samsung Captivate from eBay. It currently has 2.1 on it. I read that it can be upgraded to 2.2. However, I don't see any one way to do it. Everything seems very unofficial. (on par with jailbreaking an iPhone) That being said, I was wondering if there's some definitive way to upgrade that I'm not finding though a Google search. Much help is appreciated. Thanks.
BTW, I'm running Mac OSX snow leopard if that is any relevance.
EDIT: I've posted this on an android forum no response so far. (I don't expect one, either.) Help in the right direction, a tutorial, and all divine interventions are welcome. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by that, but I hope it helps as well lol. I also am having trouble getting the phone's widgets and certain apps to work. It is very frustrating as one could imagine. Neither the Facebook nor Twitter apps work for the widgets and the Skype app from the marketplace prompts me to reinstall the app after attempting to sign in. (note: I am attempting to sign in with different accounts, not just one.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Officially you can update to the latest version using KIES the Samsung PC software. If memory serves Skype on the Galaxy S series requires 2.2.
Try updating to 2.2 to see if it solves the Widget issues, Can't say I've ever ran into that problem. You could try using a different launcher to see if the problem persist touchwiz can be a bit finicky at times.Galaxy SII - CM7 @Stock speed, 16gb + 16gb Micro SD
Galaxy S - CM9 (kind of) @ 1.5ghz, 8gb + 16gb Micro SD
