havent found any topics about moding my lg thrive in lg android section, any mods, tips, tricks for the lg thrive other than what ive googled? if possible can i use lg phoenix mods for the thrive?
Well TBH I haven't seen any rom for your device so far. I think you can only root it so far using z4root or SuperOneClick.
There is also no recovery yet.
LG thrive and phoenix comes from AT&T, that why both have no custom mods.

Z.d.u.n.e.X's Stuff: Personal Site | My skins | Android Stuff's "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it, because nobody else will."
According to the review in "PhoneArena.com" the writer thinks that the "Thrive" is a version of the LG "Optimus One", so maybe you could start by using ADB to suck some information out of it and see how close it comes to a "One". If everything looks sufficiently close, and you have backed up everything you need, then you might try installing a Recovery.
Actually, I guess the best start is to load Android System Info by Electric Sheep and see if the finger print is the same.
I got curious about the Thrive and I bounced through XDA yesterday. They have an Optimus One section. There is at least one guy over there with the Thrive. He tried loading Optimus One firmware on it. It did not work. There seems to be some incompatibility. So there is where it stands. If you are a programmer, you have a challenge. If not, well, you will have to wait a bit.
Oh, and I got even more curious and looked at some pricing. AT&T is charging $379.99 US for the LG Phoenix (no contract), which is another version of the new Thrive. In Canada, Rogers is charging $224.99 Cdn. for the LG Phoenix (no contract), but Telus is charging $199.99 Cdn. for the Optimus One (no contract). IMO the Phoenix actually does look a bit nicer, but the Telus price is very attractive.

I do not own a Thrive (LG-P506), and frankly it is unlikely that I am going to have any long term interest in this topic, so do not expect me to update or correct my posts on this issue.
I had a bit of time again, and looked at the Thrive issue. A lot has happened on XDA. There may be activity on other forii too. I don't know. . . .
Apparently, the Thrive (and Phoenix) have some real compatibility with the Optimus One (P500). If I understood what I read correctly, attempts of running Recoveries and ROMs seem to work *sometimes*. One fellow claimed to have loaded a P500 Android 2.2.1 ROM and it had no problem. Again, I emphasize that others loaded other ROMs and *did* have problems, though mainly with colour support.
Moreover, the sources HAVE been released for the Thrive/Phoenix -- you guys are *very* lucky when you consider that I am still waiting for LG ShinePlus (C701h) sources for Anrdoid 2.1.1.
The main difference in the Kernel is that the Thrive/Phoenix supports 2 different "framebuffer drivers" (Novatek and Hitachi) whereas the Optimus One only supported the Hitachi. From a hardware point of view, this probably means is that LG has moved from a single supplier of LCD screens to a couple of suppliers. The kernel detects the hardware during boot and choses the right driver code.
From a developer standpoint, the Thrive owners are trying to talk them into porting their kernels to Thrive, so that Thrive owners can use the same firmware packages without further code changes. I expect that when some of the better programmers understand what the situation is, the Kernels will show up. In fact, it looks like there is no reason to put out Optimus One specific kernels anymore. In effect, the Thrive kernels will probably run on the Optimus One without problems, and it is likely that if LG continues to make "Optimus One" branded product at all, they might eventually end up using the Thrive/Phoenix motherboards, making them all the same anyway.
So it looks like there is going to be a strong support future for the Thrive/Phoenix.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
This is probably my last post about the Thrive. Hopefully someone else will be interested enough to continue. The following is a link to what is probably the first loadable firmware for the Thrive. It is Android 2.2.2 based (essentially stock, but "deodexed" -- ready for theme-ing). There is an added FM radio support:
My last advice is that for now, you should be careful to NOT confuse the Thrive with the Phoenix or any of the other similar "Optimus One" variations. There is just enough incompatibility to mess you up.
