Yes you can, remove the preinstalled corelet (forgot the name), and just install itunes from the downloads section. You can use "media monkey" to update your database.

You need to completely remove (un-install) virtual corelet from your phone. The idea is to replace VC with iTunes. Dual corelet works on L7e/i/1 as well but that's another topic and process.
1. Delete virtual corelet (You can do this from your phone)
2. Install iTunes through SD card method. (I've attached a working itunes for L7e)
3. After installation, you can access itunes through "multimedia > Corelet&Elf > Corelet"
4. For adding songs in the list you can use two methods:
A. iTunes DB creator (menu > iTunes DB creator)
B. Or you can use "Media Monkey" (I prefer this method since I only update my database when I'm adding songs)
Goodluck!

I cannot give you a copy of my media monkey since it will be considered warez. You can instead download the free version of it from their site.
Installation:
1. Download and install Media Monkey
2. After installing, do not run just yet instead open the directory "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins"
3. Move and replace the "d_ipod.dll" file (Attached)
4.Done!
This is to insure that your phone will be detected by Media monkey
Updating Database:
1. Run Media Monkey and Connect your phone
2. Media monkey detect your phone which you'll notice on the left side.
3. Right click on your device > Rebuild device database
Note:
There are two ways you can update database which you can see on the options menu of your device.
a. update based on newly added files (This method is faster)
b. Total rebuilding of database which takes longer since all files will be scanned.
DON'T MENTION IT!!
