what is this step? its not in the instructions.

also when apps2sd is activated, it still seems like some apps are on the phone memory....are those stock apps?

the "mv" line is done inside terminal emulator on your handset.
this moves a file from your SDcard to your phone.

if you go back to first post, j_r0dd has a fix for the android market so everything shows correctly. just download the file to your sdcard then move it.(i think its called vending_preferences.xml)
so the full command inside term is:
    "mv /sdcard/vending_preferences.xml data/data/com.android.vending/shared_prefs"

    then "sync" inside term emulator.
    then "reboot" inside term emulator.
you dont really need to do these last 2 steps, but i always do these after making any changes, like removing stock apps.

and stock apps will still be stored to /system/app on your phone.
if you have removed some stock apps from Beta1, you will have to re-remove them after flashing Beta2. Beta2 still contains things like esmusica.apk and since you flash over Beta1, you are installing these back onto your device.

oh ok gotcha, i didnt realize it was the market fix.....also since apps are now installed to the sd, will they still consume phone virtual memory? how does all that work now?

apps are stored in the SD card but they still occupy the phones RAM while running.

Uh can you elaborate a bit more on the subject? Also, did you wipe before flashing?

so i flashed the jrodd recovery, and then flashed the ROM (yes i wpied, dalvik, all that pretty stuff). sd card is partitioned correctly to ext3. so then i opened terminal and did "apps2sd install". worked fine, then i did "apps2sd cachesd", worked fine then my phone rebooted automatically. once it rebooted i went into terminal and did the next step "a2sd cachepart" it worked and then my phone rebooted automatically. then once it rebooted i got bombarded with force close windows. just nonstop, i couldnt even turn my phone off i had to pull the battery.

i am having so much difficulty with this ROM. this is embarassing because these instructions are not difficult, and ive reviewed them about ten times. i am fmailiar with all of this stuff and it has never been difficult for me. i could barely flash it at all, i was stuck in boot loop. i had to "fix package" under recovery menu>other, and wipe ext partition just to get the thing to finally flash. but then once i did, all of ^ crap started happening. what should i do?

here is what you did wrong. Those are not "steps" of commands you type in. those are just the options. you don't have to use any of them. you moved dalvik-cache to sdcard and then attempted to move it to the cache partition. you should have moved the dalvik-cache back to internal 1st if you wanted to move it to the cache partition. let the phone boot-up fully after flashing before you type any of the apps2sd commands. with a deodexed rom the 1st boot is always a long time because it is taking the classes.dex files from the apps and writing them to the dalvik-cache

ok i think i got it, thanks for your blatent patience and helping all of us.

    two more questions:

    1. when i ran "apps2sd check" it said my sd card is mounted as "ext2"...does that mean it snot ext3?? if so can i upgrade to ext3 without messing anything up, or do i have to start from scratch once again?

    2. would an eclair2cliq theme be compatible with this ROM?

i don't know why it says ext2 when it is obviously ext3. don't worry about it. eclair2cliq themes would have to be edited to work properly. THAT MEANS NO XMLs or CLASSES.DEX & png's have to be renamed

Listen hotshot, I'm not too sure who you're referring to, but your comment was unnecessary. No one here is being rude or criticising his work, they're just looking for help getting things working, and he's been perfectly willing to help. Apps2sd is a brand new thing for a lot of cliq users so not everyone is familiar with it. Asking for help makes me a troll??

I wasn't trying to upset anyone and I was certainly not referring to you. I saw on other posts that he wasn't crazy about the negative criticism he gets for his work. Just trying to show my support. again my apologies to anyone offended.
