Only SIM contacts ever showed up in the contacts app - unless I went to add a contact, and then all contacts (google synced) were available. To get a contact to appear in the contacts app, I had to add it to my SIM.

Confirmed after 3 wipesreflash.

Did you set up google by either signing into the market, or setting up a gmail account on it?

2. Do a full wipe (data/cache + dalvik) (how to full wipe data/cache+dalvik? i've google it and no idea how to do that)

5. Reboot (press what to reboot?)
6. First boot will take a while, be patient (it can take 3-5 minutes)
7. If you require Terminal, download it from the Market. Otherwise, enjoy!

I'm also a big NOOB, but I'll try my best to help you out, and make things as clear as I possibly can. First things first, you need your phone to be rooted.

So for Step 2, you first need to go into Recovery. To do this, you will need to shut off your Cliq. After it is fully shut off, hold down the camera button, and then hold onto the power button. DO NOT LET GO OF THE CAMERA BUTTON, once you see the Motorola Symbol, immediately release THE POWER BUTTON while still holding the CAMERA BUTTON, and you should come up to a screen which gives you 2 options. The SECOND option is to go into recovery by pressing the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON. Now when you see this screen press the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON. Then you should boot into recovery. From this screen you should have multiple options, being able to navigate with the volume rockers, selecting with the home button, and going back with the back button. From here, use the volume rocker to navigate and select something that should have the word "Wipe" in it. Upon selecting this option, you should be redirected to more options for you to select. The first one should say something like "Wipe DATA/CACHE" and the second option should say something like "Wipe DALVIK" SELECT BOTH. After wiping the first option, wipe the second option, this should take some time to wipe. After doing so, you have successfully completed Step 2.

Step 3 & 4: now move back to the original recovery screen, with the options from before you went to "Wipe". Next since you have already done Step 1, you will need to "Flash the ROM & Super User" The first thing you will need to do is navigate to the option that should say something like "Flash zip from sdcard" and select it. from there you should see a few options so select, all starting with "SDCARD:". Now select the ROM you want to flash, in your case it would be the one that says "SDCARD:signed-J_r0dd's.cliqmod." Upon selecting this, it should start flashing, now this may take a few minutes or so. The next step is IMPORTANT. So you just finished flashing the ROM, now you need to flash SUPERUSER. After the flash, do not leave this screen. What you do now is select the file that should say "SDCARD:su-222-signed.zip". It should do the same as it did for the ROM. no you are all finished with Step 3 & 4.

Step 5 & 6: This should be the easiest. Press the back button so you are back into recovery. Now select the first option that should say something like "Reboot". Select it, and now your phone will boot into your newly flashed ROM. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR PHONE AFTER THIS. It is best to just leave it alone for about 10 minutes before doing anything. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes for it to start up. So when your phone is fully booted, you can start using it. It should start you up at MOTOBLUR. and the rest is up to you.

Step 7 isn't really necessary unless you use Terminal, so you probably don't need to worry about it.

Step 2 : Load up adb when the computer recognizes it type :

Yes. Root your phone first using those instructions.
After that, you'll be able to install from the SD card using recovery.

As for loosing calender functionality and widgets, i downloaded android agenda widget, and its grabbing google, facebook, and other ical calenders i've bad before without any issues or FC's.

Its a good temporary fix to not having calender functionality.

I'll try others but keep coming back to this one. The most stable 2.1 with just a little moto makes it work for me.

When I do Facebook Contact Sync, pictures and statuses are not showing up. The one thing I liked about Motoblur was the Facebook contacts. But the sync from the Facebook app isn't working fully.

Other than this problem, the ROM is great. The Sense notification icons are great, and I'm loving the Fancy Widget. Also the speediest ROM I've used so far.

I just flashed the ROM and maybe its too early to say amazing things, but its flying. Great work. I like function without the filler. My whole reason for rooting.
