Stature i9: RAZR3?

hey all. yesterday i was at radioshack and i got a look at the Stature i9 from Boost mobile. this is a very sweet phone, it looks very much like the RAZR3/RUBY, which i'd heard had been cancelled. unfortunately they didn't have any activated SIMs, so i wasn't able to test functionality, but i did take some pictures and flip through the manual, and i'm pretty impressed. i'm trying to decide between this and V9 for my next phone, does anyone know if you can unlock Boost phones? Here's what i found out:

Not sure what OS it runs but i just read some reviews it seems like one hell of a phone You can access the menu on the outer screen how awesome is that lol

hey rabbit, did you notice any secondary camera inside? I dont see one in those pics but there might have been one inside for video conferencing if that phone does have 3G, but even if there is not one, that isnt definitive

Is that a modeshift keypad?

no, no internal camera that i saw, or in the manual. i thought the touchscreen is limited like razr2, but ocm770 says you can do more apparently. yeah the error message on bootscreen confused me too. what is modeshift keypad?

buttons on the keypad can change what they are because they are illuminated from beneath...like on the E8 and ZN5

From his vid, it looks like at least the "joystick" is illuminated from beneath.

seems to be plenty of unlocking info. got the scoop on iDEN. it's TDMA of some sort, it's 2G, and it's compatible with GSM. there are two major iDEN networks in the US, Nextel/Boost and one other one in the south, i'll edit when i get the name, and many smaller local and private networks.

Well its still gsm so if you unlock it you could use all features except PTT on other networks (or i'm pretty sure you could...)

@ocm yeah i thought so. at&t has ptt, i saw it on the moto tundra. but is it compatible?

If you can configure the PTT setting maybe.

I have asked Nextel here in mexico that if i buy a PTT phone that is not on there catalog could i configure it to work, and they said no

i have yet to speak to any cell phone tech support who aren't notorious liars.

they might be right though, iDEN is moto only. i read nextel/boost is planning on switching fully to sprint's cdma by 2010 but moto still plans on supporting iDEN.
