Motorola Swings to a Q1 Profit on Strong Sales; Earnings Top, Revenue Misses
10:14 AM Eastern Daylight Time, 04/29/2010 (MidnightTrader) — Motorola Inc. is on the rise Thursday morning after its first quarter earnings gained on strong demand for smartphones with Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android software system.
The mobile phone maker returned to the black on a profit of $69 million, or 2 cents a share, excluding one-time itmes, compared with a loss of $231 million, or 10 cents a share, last year. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a loss of 1 cent a share.
Revenue, meanwhile, fell 6% to $5.04 billion, while analysts had forecast the figure reaching $5.09 billion.

That is for Motorola as a whole, the mobile phone division has made another loss of $192 million. So, the mobile phone division is still struggling badly even though the loss is less than their previous one of over $500 million.
It is not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009
