Open recovery vanishes on phone reboot

Hi everyone,

I've managed to install Open Recovery v1.46, but Open Recovery keeps vanishing after each reboot and the standard Android System recovery <2e> takes its place... Then I again apply:update.zip and Open Recovery is back. And then, on a normal reboot to android and then a 2nd reboot to recovery mode brings the android system recovery <2e> back and OR is gone.

On the other hand if after Open recovery Installation, I never boot the phone normally but keep going into recovery mode, I always go into Open Recovery. This suggests that something is getting replaced when the phone boots up normally

How do I ensure Open Recovery sticks ?

When it boots back into Android System Recovery <2e>
It says at the bottom :

E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

The OpenRecovery "autoswitch from normal boot" requires some firmware modification. The "vanilla" OR doesn't install this automatically due to different handling of each ROM made for the Milestone.
