    [MOD] Install non-market apps

This is a mod for ATT BackFlip users running 1.5 to allow non-market apps to be installed. ATT has completely hijacked this device, this just gives you a little more freedom. Thanks to all the guys in the other thread for testing.

Download & flash in recovery. This is a no brainer.

Copy the zip file to your SD card
then in adb shell type reboot recovery
Once in recovery select Flash zip from SD
You should see j_r0dd's zip file
Just hit the power button and flash away

Yeah I don't feel safe using a image just yet.
if I type "adb shell su" I do get the # prompt, but I cannot type anything. if I type "adb shell su reboot recovery" I get permission denied.
I feel like blaming this on Windows 7,
would the same method work in Ubuntu if I have the SDK installed there?

I really feel like I'm a bother to you kind people.

After I do the reboot recovery command it boots into
Motorola system recovery, from here I have three options
    reboot system now
    apply sdcard:update.zip
    wipe data/factory reset

Is it possible our Backflips use a different recovery menu?

Ah you dont have the custom recovery either, you should really look into installing both j_r0dd's recovery and unsecured boot image. I dont know how or if you can do it without the custom recovery (im still a rooting noob)

    Recovery: http://modmymobile.com/forums/557-mo...8-27-10-a.html

    Boot Img: http://modmymobile.com/forums/557-mo...-boot-img.html

I know sometimes it can feel a bit daunting with all the new info youre seeing with root and all that. But as long as you follow instructions, read through the thread for any tips, and all that you should be fine.

I figured it out, looks like I did need the Custom Recovery in the first place...

Awesome, I figured you would get it. Its pretty easy to follow the instructions and at least somewhat understand what you're doing or how to go about doing something once you get used to it all.

Thanks for making the update.zip; I will try it tomorrow

I ran into a bug with the other thread's solution though, I couldn't purchase a new app from the store, but free ones worked well.

On a related note, has anyone managed to get MarketAccess to work?
