Not sure if it will help, but I stumbled across this manual update that might make the rooting steps a little simpler. CLIQ-XT Software Support - Motorola USA
if nothing else the contents of the update package may answer some naming convention questions...

As much as I would love to see this working and have it on my phone, I understand it takes work and time, and that the people working on it do have lives other than doing this. Please people, try to have a little patience :-)

I got that update from ota about a month ago.it has some new stuff.new swype, better data, and more responsive.i bet that in this rom might be what you need.tell how to upload to you.

Well for me, Im compiling from source and changing the things I need like drivers and stuff but not all of them, Ive used the keymap and keychar drivers only from 1.5 and Im compiling from source the wifi and ril drivers... so Lets see what happens...
