ext2 is ext2. Link2SD is an app that allows you to manually move specific apps to the sd instead of all of them.

but is it possible to remove A2SD altogether, to replace it with Link2SD instead? some person from another thread said that using Link2SD with Apps2SD didnt work since it only saw link2sd as if it was apps2sd, so...

I don't know who's rom you are using to accurately answer. But if they are using my GscriptMod then you can just open it and disable a2sd then after the phone reboots run your link2sd

How do i install this new recovery? I use root explorer to delete 1.8.1 from the root of my sdcard then use root explorer to put 2.0 on. Adb shell said there is no recovery.img in /system. Yet when i reboot into recovery its still says 1.8.1. What am i doing wrong?

You need to use adb and cd to the directory of your img and run this:
    flashimage recovery recovery.img

Further back in the thread, there is a link for a 1.7.? version of the recovery that uses the volume keys... You could probably use the search function to find it.

    Just to be sure..

"mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000" errors followed by
"error writing recovery: No space left on Device"

Means bad internal memory blocks and it will be 100% impossible for me to flash my phone with this recovery image and a 2.1 android rom and I need to get a new phone? Just making sure I dont have another option

No, you need to install an older recovery, for some reason the new ones don't work on virgin xt's. Bit one time I did reboot after rooting then install the recovery and it worked just fine
