[MENTION=3217908]RealPariah[/MENTION] I'm not using your rom, but I did flash it to check it out. From what I saw this rom is kind of personalized. For example, I'm not really a skyire guy, I prefer the stock browser. Other than that its a pretty great rom.

It may be a couple things a slightly corrupted download or an ooppsss during install or if moving from another ROM it may have retained their non-compatible version of that file.
Try this first, reboot in to Recovery go to Mounts and Storage [this is the Clockwork way find this option if you are not using CW it should be somewhere in most Recoveries to Wipe the system partition ONLY]. then tap format /system. Then flash the ROM again.
Formatting the /system partition will make sure nothing is there to contradict what is being flashed. This MAY wipe out your apps if moving from another ROM [partially why I chose to go with the use of /data/app so you can format your system and definitely not touch the add-on apks].
I hope you ran a backup first so that way if you wish you could also try to restore it then try to do the upgrade flash again if you find your apps did get wiped and you can not live without your saved app data. Keep in mind if you have been using Google backup service then once you use ROM Manager and Download ROM to download and then flash the Google Apps AOSP package then reboot you will then be able to put in your Google account info and have it restore your apps, Contacts, and even App Settings to the new install for you [Jut be sure the box that says Restore my settings to ths phone [or very close to that] is checked [it is part of the wizard where you enter your Google account info, agree to wireless data collection then next screen after that has 2 checks one is keep my phone backed up with Google and Restore my phone. If you want to be sure not to affect backed up data until you test it and all tap the restore my phone so it is checked and leave the backup this phone unchecked. Once you have your phone set the way you like you can go to settings>accounts and set the option to back the phone up to Google at that time.
Thanks for the assist Pohan2, keep in mind I asked for opinions so I know what folks like and don't and what they think. Please don't get me wrong I find it awesome that folks are using my ROM and even beginning to help support each other at this point, so thank you again.
This is the first project of this type I have done and love that soo many are starting to find it useful, and even some have made it their primary choice.
I did try customizing this ROM a little because on the whole the stock apps do the job, but in most cases they do it soo much more poorly than a free app on the market that I throw them out in favor of one of those apps. There are only 4 apps I really have gotten rid of at this point [Email, MMS, Browser and Calculator].
For the Skyfire comment I will say I bet you liked stock browser because it was what was there at first and most often and what you got used to. You do realize Flash videos really just do not play in the stock browser [I have had some but they need to be older and it is a real PITA, whereas Skyfire has customized Flash support built-in [and pretty well implemented]. The $2.99 pop-up is just for the bandwidth optimization of the Flash videos not the abilit to play them before someone mentions that. Couple that with things like the bottom bar being customized and having things like Google Reader button right there that allows you to open you Google Reader Feeds without leaving the current page [it loads in a frame that covers the browser page it does not load a whole nother page and is not just a URL link]. Are some of the reasons I made this decision in particular.
My question is knowing that if you were to take another look at it and the increased functionality you get [it does EVERYTHING the stock browser does [even the + - zoom butons on single tap on screen [or double tap for auto zoom without hitting those], the better browsing speed and all would you not miss the stock browser?
Would you not mind if I added stock browser back if that meant a larger download?
What is the maximum size download you guys would accept?
[I would max out at about 125MB if I were to include all the apps and all I originally was thinking of I have just been doing my best to weigh the pros and cons of an app and keeping an eye on it's size to keep the ROM as small as I can]
Folks I know this may seem like an extra step, but I am going to go setup a survey and post the link here. PLEASE take the time to fill it out [I will keep it short and yes or no questions mostly so I dont waste your time. I just need to know what y'all are thinking and what my options are moving forward to bring the Best ROM to the most people [I will NEVER please everyone, but I try to make it so you can customize it how you see fit even out of the box while providing the best install so hopefully you have all the BASICS needed that if all you did was Flash and run you would be OK using what is there type approach. Before you ask NO I CAN NOT INCLUDE GOOGLE APPS THEY WOULD SUE ME Best we can do is have ROM Manager and that has a link to a download there for you to have your own personal use as allowed per their rules [we just can not do it for you]Last edited by RealPariah; 06-08-2011 at 07:00 AM. [MENTION=3217908]RealPariah[/MENTION] Yeah, that's the reason. I'm just used to the stock browser and I don't really like changes lol. On the topic of adding it back, I'd just add it back so if people want the stock they could have it, and if not just uninstall it from file expert. Also the calculator too, but I'm just one person and that's just my opinion. Great rom though, keep up the good work!

Survey is Up PLEASE take the time to check it out and fill it out
Folks,
I went ahead and got a nice survey system setup on my domain and went through and setup a nice little survey pertaining to AmbrosialCM7 and likes/dislikes [for apps and preferences future changes size and memory usage preferences]. I did try to keep it short and sweet, and made only like 3 easy questions mandatory. You dont have to sign-up for a perm account it is just a quick name email so I can try to keep multiple fills down to minimum [want to keep it fair even and as realistic as possible. Also, if you have been watching my thread you know how responsive I am, and that I do actually care what folks think about the work and want to hear from you so please do not think I will not read what you post, not heed your advice or otherwise waste your time. I really would like to know the answers to these questions and I hope EVERYONE gets a chance to fill out the Survey. ALL RESULTS ARE ANONIMIZED AND AS LONG AS YOU ARE CONSTRUCTIVE AND CIVIL I TAKE ALL POINTS OF VIEW SO PLEASE DONT THINK IF YOU ARE NEGATIVE I WILL NOT LIKE YOU, STOP LISTENING TO YOU, OR FOR THAT MATTER KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Please Fill Out the Survey Here [Http://www.ambrosialpariah.com/ambrosialcm7survey]
[This Link will go directly to survey if you enter URL in it takes you to a page that lists all surveys on site [only 1 right now [may be more later or if say another dev wants me to throw one up there for them [and yes this thing does stats so you can see graphs and all of the results!] Pretty awesome survey software I think
OH OH it has a translate function so I went through and translated the whole Survey [including the system based form e-mails] via Google Translate to Spanish as I know we have some Spanish speaking folks in the community here [Just Blame Google for bad translations not me please I speak very little Spanish
]
I hear you, but would the added size to the overall ROM still be worth it to you, and what would the maximum sized ROM zip you would be willing to download? I just posted a link above to a survey I set all up [real quick not very long, but has room if you do want to get detailed] so if you dont mind checking it out that would be awesome!
Please Fill Out the Survey Here [Http://www.ambrosialpariah.com/ambrosialcm7survey]
Basically it is up to you, you could breeze through it in a couple min and be done with the basics or you could get all detailed with everything and take as long as you want totally up to you [Of course the more detailed info I get the more informed decisions I can make] I WILL READ ALL OF EVERY SURVEY YOU WILL NOT BE LOST IN THE CROWD EVERYONE CONSTRUCTIVE CIVIL VOICE IS ALWAYS LISTENED TO BY ME

Thank you
Thank you Jack, I really appreciate it I SERIOUSLY want to hear from ALL the users of my ROM, I do care, it will make a difference, and everyone who takes the time to fill it out has my utmost gratitude for doing so I REALLY want hear what you think [I know that doesn't happen very often and is why I am beating that one in to yo heads]. I care what you think and I do listen no matter if you think you are not a techie or can "use the right words" as some have told me. Just put in what info you can think of in your own words and I am pretty good at correlating that to what needs to be done on the technical side to make it happen [or not
whateva the case may be

Update Released!! 6.09.2011 - SUGGESTED UPDATE If not updated in a bit
Folks,
Update has been Released 6.09.2011
AmbrosialCM7-v2.6.1 [2011.06.09]
MD5:39aac09284ef7329052c0fb10e461427
-------------------------------------------------
- This has brought us to Nightly 95
- Hit another beautiful sweet spot with Sysctl.conf Very stable and Very Quick!
- Cleaned up Build.Prop and removed spacing to bring it's size down
NEW UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
-----
Alright after further testing how best to flash upgrades while avoiding problems I have come up with a couple changes to the update process.
To Update from a Previous AmbrosialCM7 version:
---
- Boot in to recovery
- Go in to mount and storage
- choose to wipe the system partition
- back in advanced menu choose to wipe Dalvick Cache [not mandatory]
- In Main Menu choose to wipe Cache [not mandatory but HIGHLY recommended]
The only things affected are things installed to /system so if you use an app to edit files like hosts [adfree] you will need to reapply their settings [just open app and tell it to re-download the hosts even when it says no update needed]
Google Apps Pack Will no longer work [icons there but when opened they just drop out NO PROBLEM READ THE NEXT LINE BEFORE FREAKING OUT
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO FIX GAPPS PACK AFTER FLASHING AmbrosialCM7 as Upgrade:
- Open ROM Manager [or use recovery if you removed it]
- Choose flash zip from SD
- Tap Clockwork/downloads/goo-inside.me/gappsblah.zip
- once done it ALL WORKS JUST FINE just enter your user account again at next boot and viola all icons work again [no need to remove anything or re-do it just install gapps like you always do and dont worry bout it]
Link2SD should run fine after update and ask what type of partition the sd-ext is as usual if not
- Open Settings
- Tap Applications
- Tap Manage Applications
- Find and Tap Link2SD
- Tap to clear it's cache
- Now start Link2SD
If you have not upgraded for a couple versions or have been on the fence about when to jump in to using this ROM I HIGHLY suggest you check this version out!
As Always ROM available for download here: My ROM Page
FYI, I may have to begin shifting my focus forward right now. While I do not mind bring maint updates to keep the Base ROM code up-to-date, I feel like I am cheating
when I do not bring some more changes than just the Base updates. For the next couple releases it may just be Base ROM updates while I work on brining some more of my more "advanced" ideas in to the mix. While the core of the ROM will not change I am working on some cool ideas to further set this ROM apart and it may just take me a little bit to get the wrinkles ironed out and my ideas to a point I feel comfortable releasing them. Believe you me, I think once I do start bringing one or 2 of them to the ROM it should be a fun time here!
If interested I am looking to see if there is an Android programmer to do me a cool idea or 2 in the form of an apk to bring to the ROM and it would really help shorten the dev time as I would not have to learn apk coding and copy/paste snippets together and all. So, if you are capable of writing apks and would like to help out contact me, please.
File Now posted if you checked right as I posted this I am sorry it takes me a little bit to get all references everywhere updated with all the new information [I swear 2/3 of my work on a release is just typing **** up then getting it all fit in here, my ROM page, and the Primary post at the beginning of this thread ROFL]
LoL FYI, in Android land they are ForceCloses, Forecloses would only happen if you bought your phone on loan forgot to pay and some guy came out and slapped a sign on yo phone telling you to get the hell out

As stated above, just check to see if Market opens up with out FCing or crashing. If it does the phone has your info. Then visit Settings>Accounts and Sync>Tap your Google account and place checks in boxes to sync [or not if not checked] the info specified. Also out in Accounts and Syncs menu you will see background updates make sure that has a check or else when screen is off or a google app is not the primary running app [not on screen] you will not get updates [usually on by default though]
Worst comes to worst wipe your system part, cache part, and Dalvick cache [advanced menu], then flash ROM zip then Reboot and let it settle all the way then open ROM Manager choose flash zip from SD and find Gapps zip and tap then choose wipe dalvick cache [ONLY - default selection I believe] and tap reboot and let it do so and flash GApps automatically and reboot again [just be patient phone may seem frozen on reboot after Gapps flash its just Clockwork waiting a few seconds with a sleep command before it kicks your phone around again [it lets umounts and file clean-ups happen and all] that way. I know when done that way I always get First Run Wizard [may have an extra screen with a checkbox asking to keep this phone backed up with google account hit next and it will give you the tap the android screen and go through the whole setup.
For Gapps you flash it like you do the ROM WITHOUT WIPING ANYTHING [you can wipe cache or Dalvick cache but DO NOT WIPE USER DATA!!]
If in recovery choose install zip from sdcard then look in clocwork/downloads/goo-inside.me/
and find the GAppsblah.zip
it will only take a couple seconds to flash then reboot. Once phone starts [could take ~5 min especially if you wiped Dalvick cache or cache just be patient].
Once the phone starts though you should see the screen asking you to tap the Android and when you hit next it will ask for your Google Account info and once you fill that out viola all done you will have the VERY basic GApps [like market and Google Account Sync] you will need to use their downloader or search the market to install things like Google Maps and Google Goggles [both of which I highly recommend and if new some popular barcode apps dont see to work [they open just no image] Google Goggles is totally capable of scanning any bardcodes and fully works with CM7 and AmbrosialCM7].
Hope that helps
Keep in mind when following update procedure you will need to flash Gapps back after each upgrade so I recommend you keep a copy of GApps in the folder where you keep your ROM zip installer so when you copy it to the SD to flash it you copy GApps as well and dont have to dig it out of the directory or re-download it via ROM Manager
Wow, I actually had several folks fill out the survey! Thank you very much to those who have [cant tell who is who so no worries]. I need more folks to respond so I can get an idea where we stand as a whole. Keep in mind when you look at the survey it does have 14 questions, but only 3 - 4 are mandatory [things like max size, apps you like, and apps you don't the easy ones]. Please, f you find the time fill out a survey and let me know what you think [good OR bad both good and bad comments help me out a good deal and keeps my deving centered. Please don't feel you have to kiss my ass or make me feel super awesome or if you don't I am gonna come egg your house or something along those lines]. Survey Resluts are anonymous and the only reason I have it asking for your name at all in the beginning is to keep down any duplicates, or bot use [I want this survey to be as fair as I can help it I dont want a pissed or overly excited user to just have at it with a script and I end up working from survey answers that are rigged to go one way or the other is all]. I LOVE My privacy and have the utmost respect for EVERYONE's privacy as well so even if there is a way for me to find the name you used to start the survey I would not and would just delete it, but I promise the Results page I view just gives me the statistical values and I can click to view comments but it is just
comment 1: Blah
Comment 2: Blah
So I don't know who said what when or anything personally identifiable at all. I set it up that way and it will remain that way. I just understand these days with all these privacy issues going on I worry so others have to as well and I just wanted to be sure everyone is aware for sure there is no way for me to figure out who you are, but i still see each and every response [and thoroughly read them all THANK YOU GUYS AGAIN VERY MUCH I am already finding the results useful!].
Lastly, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GAIN A THANK YOU ON THE FORUMS HERE POST A REPLY TO LET ME KNOW YOU FILLED OUT A SURVEY AND I WILL HIT THE THANK YOU BUTTON [After Checking that I did indeed get some new results in please don't abuse the offer I may not know who each individual is but do see how many times the survey has been done and all]. It is the least I can do and hopefully it will help get some more results in
Click Here to take a survey for me, please
Folks,
Just released a new update. Mostly a maint deal as I said, but I did add a new app named Remounter. This thing is awesome as it lists just about any and all mount points you would run across in Android. Just pick the mount point [i.e. /system] from the list choose Read/write right below it and tap the Logo [Well Looks like a Logo and says Remount] right above the mount point listing and VIOLA remounted in the sense it is not just for that app [File eXpert only remounts exactly when it needs to so no other apps can have read/write access].
Remounter on the other hand remounts until you tell it to remount back to read only. With soo many other apps having issues successfully remounting in Android anymore, coupled with this thing being TINY [28kb] it was a no-brainer to me.
We are now at Nightly 97 Base ROM code!!
I will update the primary post when I can later today, I have to leave where I am and take care of some things and I will return later to fix everything all up.
I ALREADY UPDATED MY ROM PAGE WITH THE INFO SO IF YOU CLICK TO DOWNLOAD THE ROM FROM MY ROM PAGE BELOW SCROLL DOWN TO CHANGES BY VERSION AND I ALSO UPDATED APPS LIST THERE WITH QUICK DESCRIPTIONS OF EVERY ADD-ON APP I ADDED!!
As Always: Download AmbrosialCM7 From My ROM Page!Last edited by RealPariah; 06-10-2011 at 10:57 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
