How to use GMAIL with A1200 email client

EDIT 8/6/07: I have found that changing the SMTP port to 25 ensures I have no problem at all sending email...

Be sure to enable POP access with your GMAIL account first!!!!!
The following settings are useless unless you enable it.

Now, just substitute your email info below in the (bracketed) areas:

    SEND SET UP
    server: smtp.gmail.com
    port: 25
    email: (youremail)@gmail.com
nicknameyouremail)@gmail.com (note that you have to use your nickname plus the @gmail.com, not only your nickname)
    authentication: on
    same as receive setup: yes
    use ssl: yes

    RECEIVE SET UP
    pop3
    server: pop.gmail.com
    port: 995
    username: (youremail)@gmail.com
    password: *****
    reeinter pw: *****
    keep on server: on (checked)
    incoming msg size limit: 64k
    use ssl: yes

Now, take note of the fact that GMAIL will not "PUSH" your email to your A1200...you have to manually check it to see if you have mail.

any problems or questions? PM me.

    Thanx

Thanx a ton. I had managed to configure rcv correctly, but used 465 port instead of 587 for smtp (i simply copied the settings from my pc client :"> )

where can i download google mail app from?

when i try to download the app from the gmail site, it wont isntall as i get an invalid package message or something like that... i found a version that did install however, nothing happens when i click on the input boxes for username or password!!

who knows where i can download a version that you know 100% works with the ROKR E6?

I agree, the java app is nice... but with the email client, its easier to utilize the email addresses in your phonebook... know what I mean?

I downloaded it OTA, installed and it doesn't work . The only setup that works for me is the procedure explained by Jackmary

I'm getting the same thing as well. What service provider do you have? I have T-Mobile, and I'm thinking maybe T-Mobile adjusted the ports so that it doesn't allow GMail anymore, because it doesn't work through the built-in Email or Java app.
