Stuck in rooting process... please help!!
This is my first time ever doing trying to install a rom...
Instructions (it's the Droid 2 root method):
Setup:
- Install adb unless you haven't done so (here) and Motorola drivers unless you haven't done so (here)
- Download attached archive
- Extract to a directory, I used c:\Moto_MSM_Root
- Make sure you have USB degugging enabled
- Change connection to PC Mode (Charge Only)
Process:
- Open command prompt
- cd c:\wherever-your-sdk-tools-folder-is
- adb devices (to verify the connection)
- adb push c:\Moto_MSM_Root\Superuser.apk /sdcard/Superuser.apk
- adb push c:\Moto_MSM_Root\su /sdcard/su
- adb push c:\Moto_MSM_Root\rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
- adb push c:\Moto_MSM_Root\install-root.sh /data/local/tmp/install-root.sh
- adb shell
When i typed in "- cd /data/local/tmp" it said
cd /data/local/tmp: not found
What do i do . It had the $ sign infront of it, i tried the next line and it said Unable to chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin: no such file or directory
- cd /data/local/tmp
- chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
- chmod 0755 install-root.sh
-> keep your phone connected to PC
What do i do????

The problem I had when rooting was that I was not typing the commands in the right way, so I just copied and then pasted into the command prompt and it worked! start again and try to copy and paste each command, remember to adapt it to your folder name.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did what you said and cd /data/local/tmp went through but then chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin didnt said
chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin: no such file or directory again
C:\Moto_MSM_Root\tools>adb shell
$ cd /data/local/tmp
cd /data/local/tmp
$ chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
Unable to chmod rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin: No such file or directory
$ chmod 0755 install-root.sh
chmod 0755 install-root.sh
Unable to chmod install-root.sh: No such file or directory
$ chmod0755rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
chmod0755rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
chmod0755rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin: permission denied

if you copied it onto your sdcard it wont be in the /data/local/tmp folder. Try /sdcard or where ever your sd card is mounted.
