Installing HELauncher and removing Moto Home app

MasterMind278; GroovyG; HandlerExploit

I was wondering if I could extract the HELauncher from mastermind278's Basically Blurless ROM and install it on my XT running ZZ109's ROM (basically adlxmod). If I were able to do that would I then be able to remove the MotoBlur Home app?

The HELauncher in the Basically Blurless ROM is Dock.apk correct?

Maybe I'm wrong, but, to my understanding, Motoblur Home and HELauncher are both "launcher" applications. You may download HELauncher from Android Market and set it as your default launcher. It really makes things simpler and faster.
I'm not sure if you are able to remove Motoblur Home after doing it. For that, I suggest you to use a deblurred ROM or follow the instructions on adlxmod ROM topic to deblur it manually.
Good luck!

No, the blurhome is one of the few things you cannot remove, as a lot parts of the graphical interface depend on it.
No matter though, just leave it alone and install HE Launcher or any other launcher you like and set it as the default launcher.

GroovyG - You can remove BlurHome.odex and BlurHome.apk and nothing bad will happen as long as you have an alternative Home installed. You will however loose access to most of the Blur Based widgets... so at that point you might as well remove them as they will stop working!
**Before messing around with /system files make sure to make a NandBackup!**

As for HELauncher you can find it on the market.

Btw I am Mastermind278 not masterming278! ;-)

Yes you can do a Nand Backup via Recovery.

It's okay about the name... never changed it! ;-)

Really? I have tried multiple times, the motoblur widgets are all long gone anyway. If I remove it the screen lock wouldn't work any more, and sometimes the whole interface would just freeze up.
Other than that, the only motoblur components I have still running are blur-res, blurphone and blurservices.

Did I call you masterming? If yes typo, no intention there

bmeyergreenstreet, yeah, in recovery choose backup/restore, then backup or backup +EXT if you use a2sd.

Try removing via Adb and then do a reboot. It should work. Make sure you are using a different Home before removing.

Blimey, this seems to work now. When I was using Launcher Pro these issues above would arise, but since a while I'm on ADW EX, smooth sailing for now.
I'll test some more, but this seems to be fine!

Yep, everything works just fine, funky! I'll update the list...
Motoblur is pretty much eradicated on my phone now, so sweet

Replaced the default home from Launcher Pro to ADW Launcher EX and removed the Moto Home app using Titanium Backup and everything work great. I love ADW Launcher EX. Still have some Moto apps (the necessary ones) and all of the Google apps.

It's really annoying how much these motoblur components are entangled with each other. Mission and a half to get rid of properly

bmeyergreenstreet, indeed, ADW EX is just superb!

another thing with ADW EX. If you have Spare Parts TURN OFF the Window Animations and Transition Animations and ADW EX will work alot faster.
Be sure to set your Desktop Scrolling Speed and Desktop Bounce in ADWSettings>General Behavior>Animation and Effects to the speed of your choice. Its by far thee BEST Launcher out!
