I noticed the modmyg1 site has a video tutorial... anyone feel like making one for this process? A visual might make it easier for some of us.

Hey guys, FYI for Windows 7 x64... Motorola does not have supported drivers yet and that is why you are running into these issues... I posted a method on the dev boards as a work around until the official drivers are released... Follow the instructions there...
Dude, you may want to add a blip/edit for Win7 x64 users.. they'll need to go through this process for RSD-L to recognize the phone, and even to use ADB especially..
http://community.developer.motorola..../m-p/3322#M359
** Download the latest drivers from TheDudes first post, my link in the post is from 2 releases back.

If anyone needs help w/the process I'll be more than happy to walk you through it... Hit me up with a PM or on gtalk: genibus
And after we get your device rooted I'll post the steps that you may have been missing, just to clarify in case anyone else runs into the same roadblock. It'll help alleviate some of the board clutter here as well.

Not having any newer os available for cliq that is beyond 1.5, is there any reason to root right now? i dont want to run 1.5 at all i would like 2.0 or 2.1 and the only other things rooting would do is let me delete some non removables and overclock correct?
is somebody developing a 2.0 droid or 2.1 sense ui ROM specifically for cliq users?

I am sure many roms are being worked on as we speak. Be patient, we have only just begun

The recovery image is being built first, this will allow easier updating.. Dude is working on 1.6+ ROMs but is kind of busy w/the holidays...
In the interim, its very useful for anyone trying to develop.. You should also be able to use backup applications, full ADB root functionality for installing, etc... possibly Wifi Tethering (if not now then soon, but I think it would work now).. Themes.. Stericsson already has nice themes for a pay application.. Here is a nice screenshot. MUCH prettier than stock ; http://twitgoo.com/a84sj

Works like a charm! I had to swap over to an XP machine to do step 4. And then had to swap back to Vista for Droid Explorer to work. But everything is working great! I'm really looking forward to seeing the custom ROMs start rolling out!

There will be 2.0 and 2.1 roms available but having the roms WITH motoblur is the issue. Cause of the embedded framework that is required for blur to run, getting this to run on a custom build would be pretty difficult. If you want to run 2.0 you will need to ditch blur.

So, did anyone try to remove MotoBlur as a whole or parts of it yet? I would love to know how did that go... and what parts of MB is safe to remove, if any
Also, out of curiosity, what's going to happen to the dialer.apk? Are we going to use Motorola's version of it? I hate... correction, my wife hates that slide-to-answer thing, however, all phones with vanilla Android have physical Call button, even Droid AFAIK so Dialer does not have an on-screen option to answer. Any thoughts on this?
Great job everyone and thank your efforts on this project.
