bash and busybox missing from signed-update-dudes-orange-cliqcake-0.4.1.zip , but in the std update. Any hope to see the orange update with all those useful tools ?

possible i'm wrong, but it should be not too hard to add bash and busybox by hand with root acces ... with sh script for example.

Just rooted my phone with the orange-cliqcake. Many things are missing !!! Superuser.apk , terminal, etc...

I flashed my Dext too, and get the AZERTY keyb (flash boot.img). I can use su command, delete apps, but can't use root apps like titanium. Otherwise, i don't have superuser withelist or other, and can't install it. It's very strange, the "id" command return uid=10050 in place of 0 and titanium tell "busybox works but the su command does not elevate to root: whoami reports whoami:unknown uid

When you run "adb shell", and the "id" do you have root ?

any plans to make 1.3.18 rootable???? I had to have a warantee exchange (cuz as much as I love motorola's hardware, it seems even with Android, they're software is absurdly flawed... im on my 3rd cliq and both my g1s and mytouch only needed but one exchange ever amongst the 3 of them) and the firmware is already on 1.3.18. This is super upsetting to me. Is anyone working on it?

what if I flashed the shx of 1.1.31 then flashed the root shx? Would that work?

This whole process is making me miss XDA. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick w/ HTC from here on out. I don't mean any offense at all to anyone on here, but resources for Motorola rooting seem to be SO much more sparse than HTC rooting resources. I remember when Haykuro would update his firmware every single week. w/ the nexus and all it's understandable that the cliq would be overshadowed development wise, but it's still really discouraging =L

not sure where to go from here. i've tried on both a xp and 7 box.

Uh dude, did you bother searching? It's quite all over this forum the answer of which you seek.

1.3.18 is unrootable, but they are working on finding an exploit.

Search is always good.

i jjust tried this and it made my radio stop working and when i try to load the recovery it shows a phone with an exclamation point...can anyone help me please

I did step 3 but it never loaded up into setup wizard it just went to the home of the stock rom, now I can't get any network access, wtf?

Firstly, the title would suggest that trying this on 1.3.18 would not be wise ;-) but nothing is said about versions above this??????? Or am i a daft newbie who doesn't realise that this always goes without saying?

Secondly, isn't there a way of doing some sort of full backup/restore (maybe via another app) so if it all goes t1ts up, all is not lost?

My FW is orange UK - but i'm unlocked and using a three sim (this is not going to be permanent!).. I want rid of all the daft ****ing orange apps as well as imeem mobile and also the ability to do what is now being called 'tethering' - which most people will probably recognise as 'use my mobile as a modem' - or in other words, to do what the damn thing was designed to do in the first place (VERY irrated with this)....

Has anybody rooted the 1.3.20?
Does it work?
Should it brick is it poss to fix?
Would anybody buy it if it was bricked - (phone cost me £30)?
Can you downgrade to 1.3.(below 18)?
What about android 2.1 update - how will that be affected?

Finally, since network operators can't tie you to their network past/beyond your 12month contract can they legally send you (or force upon) OTA updates containing branded SW/FW with proprietry apps that you can only make use of via their network - e.g. orange maps???????
I'd have thought it would be up to the operators to provide people with a solution to let them remove this stuff?

like it says to do, press the power and camera buttons at the same time and continue to hold the camera button until it tells u to stop doing so

btw going by the image, ur pressing power and the menu buttons together, not power and camera which are on the right side (if the screen is facing u)

i can't answer u much except the 1st and maybe 2nd question
1st yeah it seems when it comes to hacking mobile (maybe hacking in general) the version numbers matching would be the safest bet
and for ur 2nd one, try mybackup, for more do a market search, thats if by backup u mean ur apps and such not the actual rom or such
