Cliq Multi-Touch
Does anybody know if the screen is multi-touch capable? Even though it was disabled by default for the G1 it was.

afaik the "multi touch" for the G1 was a software polling hack that was not true multitouch. the iphone screen is designed with basically extra layers that allow for an easier, native, implementation of multi finger gestures. i do not know about the hardware on the cliq though.

I myself don't think the hardware supports real multitouch.

Well even if the CLIQ can't do true multitouch, even stimulation through polling is better than nothing I'd think.

It should support mt. Everyone said that the G1 didn't support mt but a few kernel tweaks and we had mt.

Edit: nvm, I guess multi-touch isn't always available on capacitive screens.

It isn't always available because iPhone has a patent on it, but the software in the phone will still be enabled when in the hands of a dev. Multi-Touch is in this phone we just gotta get it out.

Well, it's not built into the kernel until 2.0.
So something will need to be ported.
I thought all capacitive touchscreens had the ability for true multi-touch, but I was corrected.
Either way, we'll at least be able to get what the G1 has.

Yes we will. Hopefully the experience will be a bit easier this time around considering the cpu isb already scaled to 527 and there's plenty of internal mem. I don't think we'll be needing any apps to sd on this phone.
