right click my computer, choose properties
advanced tab
environment variables (down the bottom)
and set the path variable for you or the system (looking on my work laptop here, I added this to my user environment variables: ; C:\Program Files\Droid Explorer\SDK\tools (as droid explorer adds adb to your PC, and gives a nice GUI if you run that PC app, obviously if you installed just the SDK, you need to put that path to adb instead).
Actually, you don't need to put it in the path, but makes it easy to type "adb" from any command prompt path anywhere.

Im surprised this isnt stickied. It has 20,000+ views and resolves an issue that many people, myself included, have had. Thanks OP.
*EDIT: Just realized this is in the CLIQ "Bible". Amongst MANY other things.Last edited by VontaelP; 09-09-2010 at 11:49 PM.
Try Google search. You'd be surprised how many answers are floating around on the internet.

LOL, I just looked at the 1st post and realised my response was almost the same. I just did this from my own accord, not from reading the 1st post, as I often add paths to my windows path variable for different things (e.g. cygwin).

setting up adb
Ok so i need some help here. kinda new to this. I followed the steps to a tee, but when i do adb devices, it says not recognized as internal or external blah blah blah... any help would be greatly appreciated!
Well I figured things out but now I have another problem
when rsd starts flashing it says it failed and that a usb device has failed or something... it pops up "unknown device" I'm thinkin maybe i got a bad cable but everything works when i plug it in it charges and allows me to transfer things...can someone please help??? I'm sooo close to rooting my cliq!

Why I type "adb devices" on prompt don't work. He tells me that 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file. I tried everything and it downs't work. Can you help me with this?

In command prompt, did you cd to your sdk tools directory?
ex.Code:chdir C:androidandroid-sdk-windowstools
