I have linux computers and servers here as well, it looks like you don't have the drivers installed. I have seen this error before with my laptop but i moved to my Windblows Fista box to get my phone rooted because of errors. If you have a windows machine, moving your project to that machine.

someone should put a big note on the first post in this thread that this method will not work using Linux. I now have a phone with a messed up keyboard.

How do I get my phone back to the state is was in before I started with step 1?

Nevermind, I'll just buy a new phone. That's the last time I'll trust a modding community to know what it's doing though.

Someone is trying to help you... if you really wanted to root your cliq you should have done some preliminarys first.
I don't have a Linux machine or anything but I did manage to root and unroot successfully because I read my arse off for a whole month before I even attempted to do anything with the phone.
There are guides on how to unroot but I guess some people are too lazy to search for themselves and help themselves out before bashing an entire community.. I personally get offended when people such as yourself come to this site and get frustrated when YOU can't follow instructions...don't blame us blame yourself. I hope when u do get your new phone you don't screw that one up when trying to modify it. But remember its your own fault.

(Sorry to any Moderators for being so rude but I got in defenseive mode..please feel free to delete this comment as you wish)

At the moment there is no way to get 3G back if you lost it. Only options are:
    - stay with 2G (you will save more battery)
    - look if another carrier offer 3G on the same 3G bands as T-Mobile US. For ex, Oi in Brasil.

As stated at the very beginning by HandlerExploit:

Actually, to clarify a bit for the newbies:
Before rooting your phone with this method, check your phone Baseband version. If it's *5012*, please check with your carrier if it operates 3G on the same bands as T-Mobile US.

At the moment, people from: Mexico, Brasil & Venezuela at least shouldn't root their phone using this method.

Mexico & Brasil people should root their Dext using TheDude's tutorial here.

For Venezuela people with Movistar and *5025* baseband, I'm not sure they can even use TheDude's tutorial.

Download these three files and put them in the root of your sdcard.(you must have adb on your computer)

    File 1 : http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/...ange.en.FR.zip (rename to "update.zip")
    File 2 : http://blog.handlerexploit.com/files/recovery.img
    File 3 : Handler-1.5-update-signed.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download(Handler 1.5, if you are 1.3.18)
    File 3b : http://tinyurl.com/yjsdhwp (kb7sqi 1.4.8 if you are 1.4.8)

Step 1 : Boot into stock recovery(Camera+Power then Vol Down)(press Alt + L to see options)and flash file one.
Step 2 : Load up adb when the computer recognizes it type :

Step 3: Pull the battery and then reinsert it and go into your new custom recovery.(Camera+Power)
Step 4: Wipe and then flash the second update.

I found this does not always work
    adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-cliq-v1.5.2.img

    Try this

    adb shell (enter)
    cd sdcard (enter)
    mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 dev/block/mtdblock3 /system (enter)
    flash_image recovery recovery-RA-cliq-v1.5.2.img (enter)

Then continue with loading another custom ROM on your device

After the custom ROM is loaded on your device your keyboard will be back to normal.

    French use Azerty keyboard
    USA uses qwerty Keyboard

    Help Oops :/

I rooted my cliq following this threads instructions early last week. Everything was working beautiful, until today. I recieved and OTA update to 1.4.8, I got tired of clicking later so I gave in and downloaded it. Big mistake. I'm currently running Handler 1.5. The update downloaded, rebooted the cliq, and immediately hit recovery mode stating it couldn't mount Blur-1.3.18blah.zip. I've rebooted quite a few times. Sometimes it boots up fine and just reboots without warning after a few minutes. Sometimes it just boots up to the recovery screen. I'm soooooo lost. Anyone have any advice?

EDIT: I've tried reflashing with my handler 1.5 rom but nothing seems to change. bummmmer.

EDIT 2: When I can get it booted up, under status it says system version: 1.3.18.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US & firmware version Handler 1.5 but I remember during the rooting process seeing the orange square pop up before I flashed with the handler rom. Perhaps I should unroot, go through the updates, then root again? Does anyone agree and/or know where I can find stock firmware?

Did you do a wipe? Factory data and dalvit cache. Then reflash the ROM.

I haven't tried a wipe yet. I'm backing up my stuff. I've got it stable now at least. I'm wondering if I used an older system update when I flashed it last week. Does anyone else show system version 1.3.18 after flashing?

Well u r using Handler 1.5 so it is using the 1.3.18 radio and th 1.3.18 Blur Version. Let this be a lesson learned...do not do an update while rooted...
If you want 1.4.8 radio and blur dl and flash handler 1.6alpha7 or KB7SQI's ROM...they will write the current radio onto your phone....remember to wipe! Factory data and dalvik cache before you flash a new ROM Always!

Sound advice, and much appreciated. A lesson learned indeed. Is there a way to block ota updates? Every hour on the hour it was reminding me.. I couldn't take it anymore! I'm going to check out 1.6.. see what works and what doesn't. I'm always down to write up bug reports
