Those are 2.1 features, doesn't work on these 1.5 roms. In the development section, you can look at Eclair2Cliq, it is based off of AOSP 2.1. It is an alpha rom though so keep in mind there are features being worked on that don't currently work.

i know this is silly, but i too am having the issue with flashing the recovery. i have tried 3 different recovery files, made sure they are not recovery.img.img, i tried flashing just recovery at the end of the string...im not sure what to do...everything else went flawlessly...i also set up the environmental variables due to me using win 7...i think im going to try from scratch on an xp machine. i'd really like some guidance tho. i am currently running a fresh install of the orange rom. thanks guys for deving for the moto cliq! sry for the edit, i also made sure that adb can see my device and it does. im really stumped and im frusterated because this is an idiot proof method of rooting. it was far more difficult to get an iphone unlocked and jailbroken for tmo and i did that many many times without purpler@in or the cheater stuff.

Spent 4 days trying to root use the SHX method and only saw tonight the comment does not work with 1.3.?? use this to this thread. I have Dext UK orange 1.3.20 no strike that I HAD

Now using handlers with root and 3g and even an FM radio which works very well. May I add my congratulations to you and your colleagues.

On a side issue - I get OTA updates occassionally, am I right in assuming I have to flash the 1.3.20 en.FR orange file to get back to that? Or do I have to wait until roms become available here.

Like SlideOrDieS14, I too am stumped. I've gotten the no such file or directory message for the past 4 hours now. I've tried everything; I've uninstalled and reinstalled SDK and Moto Drivers numerous times, I've made sure the names are correct, tried different recovery files, gone through every potential fix within this thread...

I've got adb properly installed as far as I can tell; the program recognizes my phone. I've gotten as far as installing the Orange update; I can't get recovery to flash no matter what I do. This is quickly becoming very discouraging. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ok...so i got it to work!!!! what i ended up having to do is start fresh on a different computer. for some unknown reason my win7 machine would not put the file on the sdcard or the sdcard just had trouble reading the file from the win7 machine. i know it sounds like it shouldnt make a difference but i completed everything, step by step, on a vista box and it worked...i like it. my speaker is great now, speaker phone doesnt work for me, most live wallpapers dont work, but the phone is noticeably faster....thank you to the devs that worked hard on this. i hope my solution works for you as well!

I tried it on a Windows XP desktop and still no luck. My laptops both run 7 now so I no longer have immediate access to Vista. Still got the error message. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or missing here and it's really annoying. I'm following the instructions verbatim and nada. The SD card is unmounted, adb is installed correctly, the MotoConnect Drivers are up and running...I'm just really perplexed as to what the issue could be.

i know this sounds stupid, but all i did was follow the exact steps listed for the install on the youtube vid made by CliqAnDroid. i did it like 5 times on my win7 machine with no luck. then i did it one time on my vista machine while at work and it worked without a hitch. just do EXACTLY as he says and make sure you mount/unmount your sd card when he tells you to on the phone itself ie usb mode or charge mode.

the rom im using is Eclair2CLIQ Alpha5.

its all listed step by step here
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npkpx56SHdo&feature=related]YouTube - How To Root The Motorola Cliq[/ame]

even the software is listed here for download and he also has a vid tutorial for setting up the adb. also dont forget to set up the enviormental variable within windows when setting up the adb, he goes through this as well. i hope this helps you guys that are stuck. its well worth the effort and its much easier to follow the steps laid out then trying to make your own rom!

Cant get rid of the motorola update notification

I recently had a G1 that I bricked. Now I own a motorola cliq. I recently rooted it and applied Handler 1.5.

Afterwards I attempted to apply the motorola update in the about section of settings. The phone rebooted into bootloader and wouldnt update. Then it kept rebooting. To fix this I did a nandroid backup and put Handler 1.5 back on my phone.

Now I know not to update from settings > about. The problem is now I keep getting a notification to update. If I decline it, it pops up again an hour later. really annoying. Does everyone with a rooted phone and custom rom get this message? If not, how can I fix it?
