Cliq XT Fast-Boot Issues
I have a question in relation to the Cliq XT and the boot-loader. I have root access, yet when I try to enter recovery mode with a custom(unlkr) recovery.img mounted I only get the blue screen stating that fast boot is disabled. Short of learning how to program and build my own (in the process anyways) I need to be able to disable the system from taking over and disabling the fast boot... I know the Cliq is far from current but I want to learn the process on this phone before I try my MyTouch 4G. Thanks in advance for any comments and for all the people that support this community... I am new but am sure to be around for a while!

Yes, I unzipped it and the file extension of the file I pushed to the sdcard was an img so I believe that was correct.
I followed all prompts several times from scratch on the unlkr site with no success. I even tried using RSD Lite to restore phone back to original state just to go through the whole process again with a fresh start... no luck.
I would like to know if erasing system image files and just mounting my own through the usb recovery mode would work. I am becoming more familiar with the adb interface and the terminal commands but don't know where to start. I see all these videos out there of Android 2.1 on the Cliq XT so it has to either be a user(me) or software issue. Any suggestions or possible command instructions would be appreciated. Thanks!

AndroidJunkie - on your XT (this is the Cliq Section btw) when you flash the recovery.img did it give you an error and anywhere did it say "bad blocks"? If that's the case then you have a defective chip and it will not let you access that particular partition in the /system. In other words you are SOL.
The only thing I would recommend (if you still want that phone) is going back to T-Mo and tell them the phone has been acting like garbage and you need it recitfied. Either a replacement XT or a different Android phone (I mean if its still under warranty)

Thanks to Adlx and HandlerExploit! I have just rooted my Motorola Dext and installed the ROM adlxmod-2.1.5-5 with absolute success! I only have a problem with Wifi, but I'm on the trail for solving it! I'm from Spain and my company is Movistar! See you!

I made a video on how to do it. I realize there is a newer, "safer" way, but I have no service (no sim card) and I couldn't access the system because of the emergency dial only screen. So this method worked great, and I have a video on how to do it!

Fairly good howto; he goes fast and flubs a bit, but don't whine - you can rerun it a few times. Here are the relevant links he refers to (hard to read from the vid).

Hmm - what stock version did you start with.. Doesn't seem to work with 1.5. ('adb devices' finds none unless USB debug enabled, requires SIM & MotoBlur setup.)Last edited by Saurus; 11-16-2011 at 12:11 PM.

I tried 1.5 and 2.1 (sbf links from here I think), I also tried the official 2.1 update.zip from motorola support... but adb would not recognize the phone. I HAD to use the zip in the OP, which wasn't a problem. Then it worked and this phone is running CM7.1 Stable Android 2.3.7.

Hate to rain on your parade, josh, but I think your phone must have been running 1.4.8 or earlier (there's no way to tell without a SIM). 1.5 doesn't let you connect via usb for anything except fastboot (PWR+Menu). Abd then only RSD Lite will detect the phone (for flashing a .shx or .sbf file). It's also possible to put update.zip on the SD card via card reader, but 1.5 recovery may reject it anyway - not sure when they started using secure version to prevent downgrading.

Well I couldn't use USB using the STOCK 2.1 update.zip from the Motorola Support site! after I flashed that, it took me to some sign up page, but after about 3 seconds, would send me to the Emergency Dialer screen.
CLIQ Software Support - Motorola USA
I did ALL of those steps, and had it running on the phone! But I couldn't use ADB because I couldn't check the USB Debugging since I couldn't get past the emergency screen. I googled like crazy trying to get to the system, but every guide was a failure and wouldn't work. So I rebooted to the STOCK recovery, and then applied the zip that's in the OP on the first page, and then adb recognized my phone and I rooted it. So it HAD the latest 2.1 update from Motorola. So I have NO CLUE what you're talking about. I hate to rain on YOUR parade! LMBO!

Gee, you're touchy. I certainly appreciate all the effort you've put into this, I'd just like to know how you got the update.zip onto the SD card to apply it via recovery. Except for fastboot/RSD I can't establish a usb connection after factory reset until after I've saluted MotoBlur, with SIM standing tall.

Nope! I was just repeating you! Lol. I used a micro sd card reader and transferred it that way.

Thanks; the cloud lifts. I apologize if I seemed negative (unintentional). I was just trying to clarify it for myself, and perhaps prevent a few of the inevitable n00b questions in future. I recognize your name from elsewhere (youtube probably). Don't want to be responsible for scaring you off M3; your video editing skills (at least) are an asset we wouldn't want to lose. Members willing to take the time and effort to contribute good information and experience are few enough. (And @Dumba would step on my toes.)

All is well. I'm not a hateful or violent person and all it takes is an apology and I forgive really quickly! Unless you try to hurt or break up my family, then I'm someone you really would want to avoid. I'm protective! Thanks for the kind words, just google wwjoshdew. Lol.
