as i see now that a new 2.1 rom with everything working i wanted to know if anyone who lost 3g had tried to flash this version and cofigure the apn (which was not possible in opencliq or eclair2cliq) and had succesfully recovered 3g data, anyone who can confirm i wold thank you for any info.
Depending on what radio frequency you carrier has then you will still not be able to get 3G working. But any carrier that uses the *5025* or *5030* radio will have 3G working. Just set your APN accordingly.
Well right now my carrier uses the 1900 or 850 Hz frequency and my current stock baseband is 5025 i havent rooted or anything teoretically my 3G should work right?
The older 2.1 ROMS apparently had problems reading some SIMs, and in saving APNs, in some machines and this has now been cleared up with the newer ROMS (better hardware drivers) so the only issue you would have is compatibility of your radio with the ROM, which I think is okay with 5025. If the new build comes with a radio built in that is newer than yours you will not be able to reinstall your old radio. so this is what you need to check as it will be the US build with US frequencies. If there is no radio in the build, you can do a nandroid backup (thru the recovery screen) before installing 2.1 and if it does not work it will then reinstall the original ROM and app's. (If you are unrooted, though, you can not directly backup the original ROM as it has to be overwritten with a rooted ROM first).
Hi i'm from Argentina and my carrier (Claro Argentina) work's on 850mhz/1900mhz and i flash my phone and i loose my 3g conection! My dext have *5025* radio from factory! i config my apn and nothing happend! 3g don't work! becareful!
This whole radio thing is confusing me also. On Optus here in Australia, we are on the same freqs as Europe (900/2100 for 3G) and have baseband 5025. If you punch in the following in the dialler: *#*#4636#*#* you will get an extra setting menu, press the menu button on the networks option and you will get more settings. Telstra here is 850/2100 and I expect is AUS2, I tried this and lost the ability to even select 3G in the main standard settings network setup menu. Perhaps if you fiddle with this it might help.
Now... for me to root, is it ok to go from 5025 to 5030? Or should I keep away from mucking about with radios? I guess flashing any kind of t-mobile f/w with a radio image is probably a recipe for non-3G but am unsure.. if only you could get a nandroid backup first by flashing a temporary recovery..
ive been having problems with my 3g service since i flashed motoblur 2.1 so i was looking at my APN settings. ive noticed that there was a password set when i didnt need one and when i deleted it, my 3g came back
