Question How to root MB200 Telcel and what rom to install (adlxmod 1.2??)

    Hi to everyone:
I have a new MB200 (Telcel, Mexico) and I want to "root" it because the battery life is very low. I have been reading about the adlxmod 1.0 and 1.2 ROMs and one of the advantages is the better battery life.
    - Did anyone installed adlxmod on an Telcel MB200?
    - Did the 3g function after rooting and installing the ROM?
    - Is it dangerous to root and change the ROM?
    - If something fails, can I go back to the original?

I Have NO idea of how to root it and how to install the ROMs.

    - Can anyone point me in the rigth direction? Is there an easy "Howto" to root and change the ROM of my MB200?
    - Is the adlxmod the recommended ROM for my Telcel MB200?

    Thanks

I've done it and it works well.

The battery: Don't expect a huge improvement, in my case I don't see the difference but anyway I don't care about it.

3G: It works, don't be afraid, this mod does nothing to your radio.

I have some quircks with mine as the screen seems to be dead on some areas (just on the home screen) but I've got used to it -.-'

I haven't tried anything else but Aldxmod 1.2 so I can't recomend anything else, but at least it's too much better than Stock Telcel Crippled Firmware.

    Hi azhtar

Did you use the "TheDudes tutorial" to root and change your ROM?
What files do I need to download and install in steps 4 and 7?

    Thanks

I'm looking through that guide right now, however:

"[HOW-TO]Root the Motorola Cliq[ANY BOOTLOADER]" guide states that "Note: Dext users may lose 3g with this method!" - So as a Dext user we don't want to use this method, right?

The old guide: "[ROOT] [ROM] The Dudes Root SHX and Custom ROM for CLIQ and DEXT v0.4.1 [12.26.2009]"

Step One: Setup computer with drivers - OK
Step Two: Download recovery - OK
Step Three: Flash recovery with RSD-Lite - OK
Step Four: Download ROM - Either The Dudes CliqCake v0.4.1. T-Mobile US, Blur Version 1.1.13 or The Dudes DextCake v0.4.1 ORANGE FR Blur Version 1.1.37: Problem. Only T-Mobil and Orange version. No Dext version?

As long as that ROM doesn't contain a radio, is what you meant to say ?

It isn't just a recovery, it is a full boot & recovery, and the boot does not support more recent radios (e.g. I used that method first and had NO rf connectivity to my service providers 900/1800 GSM or 900/2100 3G (i.e. no phone call support). But I kind of expected that (I did it more so I could take a nandroid backup using the custom recovery before experimenting too much), given handler wrote his method more for phones like mine (Australia, Europe, T-mobile US), rather than South America DEXTs which will lose 3G using his method.

I guess that would do it for you guys south of the boarder fence, but that ROM would not work for Oh Canada...Right?

You mention 3 files in the tutorial and there are 3 links (not two):
    ADLX 1.0 RC3 – 17-07-2010
    ADLX .4 Final 17-07-2010 and
    Kernel Wifi ahora funcionando

Which one is the ROM and which one is the kernel?
Where can I download the two files (and which ones)? The links do not work

    Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but adlx version for 850MHz units is only for 5018 radios. I think Bell Canada using 5030 but not having the same frequencies as Europe/Asia/T-mobileUSA is going to be their undoing until we can work out how to get the radio.img out their phone (or not mess with it in the first place).
