Help Upgrade Dext radio from 5012 to 5025 (required for 2.1) (fix date 1969/1670 issue)

To be able to run Android 2.1 on your Dext you need an updated radio.

You will also need to do that if you have the date stuck at 1969 or 1970 (disco time!).

Check your baseband version in the phone settings:

Settings > About Phone> Baseband Version

If you still have a *5012* baseband radio you need to upgrade at least to 5025. Use the following instrucctions, depending of your carriers 3G/WCDMA base bands (you can check on your Dext box).

Please not that what matters here are the 3G/WCDMA, not GSM one.

    * 900/1700/2100 WCDMA (T-Mobile, Spain, Europe (but Italy)):
Flash that 5025 radio using custom recovery: radio1318only-signed.zip

    * 850/1800/2100 WDCMA (Telcel Mexico, Claro Brasil, Italy):
Flash the 5025 italian radio using RSD Lite. See http://modmymobile.com/forums/403-mo...025-radio.html

Obvious: If your baseband version is already 5025 or superior, don't use that instructions at all.

I have a motorola dext from newegg, I thought it was a cliq, that's what they advertised it as. I have baseband 5012 with movistar firmware.
    System version Blur_Version.1.1.7.MB200.Telefonica.en.ES
    Kernel version 2.6.27 e2017c@ca25crh375#1
    Baseband version 76XXC-63805012-SDCBALUM.
According to the newegg information, it is 900MHZ for 3g (UMTS). Is there anyway to verify this using some kind of software tool?I would really hate to loose 3G. The box my phone came in was a generic OEM box with no info as to what frequencies the phone actually uses. I am in Japan and they only use 3G here. They don't use 850MHZ or 900MHZ so I can't check using my SIM or another SIM. Which radio file should I flash? The 900/1700/2100 WCDMA (T-Mobile, Spain, Europe (but Italy)) or the 850/1800/2100 WDCMA (Telcel Mexico, Claro Brasil, Italy)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Troubleshooting

Radio speaking you can only succesfully upgrade. That mean, you can only overwrite a radio with another one with a higher number.

(Actually it seems sometime you can downgrade from 5030 to 5025 at least, but it seems it won't change the baseband, so even if the baseband version number seem to show the downgrade was successful, I'm quite sure it is not fully downgraded, especially in terms of switching between 850Mhz and 900 MHz)

For 850/1800/2100 WDCMA, there is only one upgrade available atm: 5025.

At the moment, for 3g 900/1700/2100 WCDMA the following versions are available out there for you to flash: 5025, 5030, and 5036 iirc. If you upgrade to one of those, you will not be able to switch to any 850Mhz radio, as there isn't any higher available.

That mean, in your case from 5012 you have to choose. If your carrier is operating on 900Mhz I'd chose 5025 900Mhz or more.

    Hope it helps.

Anyone have any success with going from a baseband of 5012 with 900MHZ to a baseband of 5025 with 850MHZ and keep their 3G working? I would like to do this if anyone else has had success! Thanks!

So you went from a working 900MHZ 3G from baseband 5012 to a working 850MHZ 3G baseband 5025 flashing the italy baseband radio file? Awesome! Thanks for sharing that information!

Is the Italy 5025 850/1800/2100 WCDMA or 850/1900/2100 WCDMA? I am wondering because AT&T uses 850/1900 for 3G and i thought the Italy 5012 baseband was 1900 not 1800. Can anyone confirm this Thanks!

Just look at the thread that started this whole 850MHz upgrading frenzy: http://modmymobile.com/forums/403-mo...025-radio.html

He references a motorola specification website, which has:
    RETI *2
WCDMA 850/1900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (categoria 7/8), EDGE Classe 12, GPRS Classe 12, aGPS

I think Adumont has a typo in the first post of this thread ;-)

Hi Guys, I have a question about this.

If I have an unlocked CLIQ (T-Mobile US) that works on the T-Mobile 3G network (Frequency: 900mhz), and I want it to work on the AT&T 3G network (Frequency: 850mhz), I can do that by flashing another radio on it?

For example the Italy 3025 radio in this thread.

Sorry for bothering but I really want to know this.

    Thanks!

I saw on the adlxmod thread that raxo82 was able to upgrade the radio to 5036... is there a flashable zip anywhere for this... or could someone post the adb commands if there isn't a zip for it?

I'd like to give my wife the best radio possible when I root her replacement cliq tonight (which I plan on then flashing with the current adlxmod).
