connecting to a ad-hoc network
first of all i just want to say that these forums have been a big help since i bought my cliq last week. i'm running handler's rom and am loving it. i'm coming from winmo, so maybe i'm easily impressed, but this phone is making me very happy.
here's a problem i've got though; i'm trying to connect to an ad-hoc network with the cliq. looks like it's an android issue in general from google searches. i tried changing the wpa_supplicant file in order to add the "mode=1" line that seems to be needed for ad-hoc network recognition... but that didn't work. i may not have given it the proper permissions after i was done (i'm not a command line genius.... yet).
just wondering if anyone else has got this working, or has any insight. thanks!

Well, I'm pretty sure you have to edit tiwlan.ini along with wpa_supplicant. I tried doing this mod a long time ago following some guides but the roms I was using didn't have tiwlan.ini file. Good news though, I read recently that adlx has this in one of his ROMs now so maybe he can shed some light on this.

Yeah, the only thing needed is a patched wpa-supplicant. it's in my roms, I took it from XDA, forgot to give credit for it btw.

Yeah. I read about that ini somewhere too, but couldn't find it anywhere on the cliq. Then I saw somewhere that ti=texas instruments and thought that maybe it was a wifi chipset specific driver file. I didn't look into what wifi chipset the cliq uses. Anyhow, I'll have a look at that other rom you mentioned. Thanks for the input!
Looks like I'm switching roms again
thanks for the help. These forums make the cliq a lot more useful.
So I'm writing this from a fresh adlx install. The cliq still isn't seeing the ad-hoc network. Is there something that I still need to do.
Update:
I'm dumb. I didn't realize there was a new version of your rom. Seems to be working now. You're awesome; thanks so much for your hard work on this; my cliq just became 2x better!Last edited by shinypants; 01-28-2011 at 07:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
