Has anyone successfully replaced the 3b fw files I had Froyo booting fine but with no phone service then when I replaced the files and set permissions the phone will not boot past the "M" logo and stalls before the boot animation.
I am in Canada on a Telus Milestone

tried it in that order and worked like a charm!
i was using 2.36 thai all the time,, so i don't know what the problem was..
btw, is it possible that with this the milestone is now running odexed apps instead of the ones that we've been using
(because i ran unyaffs over the system.img, and saw all that odex files in the /system/app dir)
thanksss!

Ok I finally have mine converted to using Telus' network
Here is some rough instructions.
Well in recovery after flashing MotoFrenzy replace the baseband files using adb since I was unable to do it afterwards without causing problems this will give you phone calls but not internet
For Internet go into settings and connect to Telus' mobile network it will say you have registered. Follow that by manually creating a new APN using the following settings
Note the icon says 3G not H but in the "about phone" it says hspa so I don't actually know which is being used. Some help figuring this out would be nice

no, the milestone release is not odex'd.. but Modaco's did optimize the 2.2 release, so thats why apps are odex'd..
We learned from senseui that is does really work better, but harder to modify contents.. speed vs. modding, i guess
See this link as HSPA is actually 3G .
but EDGE is different tech, as far as i know..Last edited by dext3r; 07-25-2010 at 05:20 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Alright heres my step by step to getting Froyo working on my Telus Milestone running GOT 2.36 FW all sorts of mods added.
before you flash:
cp -f /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/* /sdcard/3g/
Basically need these files: File_Audio , File_Audio2 , File_GSM , File_Seem_Flex_Tables , generic_pds_init
copy the files provided (the first post) into /sdcard/nandroid/adbrecovery/MotoFrenzy
then boot into OpenRecovery, nandroid menu, full backup (to be safe)
then do the restore option, pick MotoFrenzy
after restore is finished go into adb shell on your computer while openrecovery is running and run this:
mount /system
mount /sdcard
cp -f /sdcard/3g/* /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/
chmod 644 /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/*
finally just reboot and setup the apn settings as described previously for your carrier
my AT&T APN settings are:
APN Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

That's what I just did to have a fully (almost) operative Milestone with SenseUI
in my case, I don't have that firmaware (also stated on the MotoSenseUI thread) and it booted just fine, only without service... I did a backup of the 5 files you mentioned and I had signal, 3G, EVERYTHING!
I'm about to test this Froyo image, well in fact, I already did but I don't know if the phone was going to boot or not... it took a while on the MOTO logo so I just rebooted and did a recovery. How long does it take to boot for the first time?

To overclock I simply used the modding menu that comes with the GOT Open Recovery, my phone cannot go over 720 mhz stable so far.
I consistently got 11.5 on Linpack, I cant seem to finish the Quadrant benchmark, I know for sure my phone isnt unstable at 720 so it must be something else that is causing a glitch mid test.
Also the phone does not boot if you attempt to apply the GOT Theme, and after a restore you lose all the font files.
I managed to complete Quadrant at 550 with a score of 585. Still cant seem to apply oc and use quadrant.

Well I just applied the nandroid backup and it booted just fine. About to run some tests but I found one issue, the red notification LED, it's always ON and it's really annoying. Anyone else with that problem?

You're right. The notification LED was red (not blinking) on my first boot. Now I've done several tests (AC adapter charging, USB charging/mass storage, everything fine
) and I just noticed it isn't on anymore LOL
If camera and video recording worked I would have this for everyday use. But I'm doing a backup to keep on testing

One big problem for me is that I can't configure email for exchange only gmail works? When setting up I can put in username and password but next is not available and manual setup also can't be clicked?
Anyone else with this problem?
