    Question Milestone A853?

Hey will this work on my Milestone? Also, do I use the RSD lite method to install this? Can I please get a link to the instructions?

Edit, my boot loader version is 90.78 which it says it supports, and I found a guide to install SBF's with RSD. I just want to know if anyone has done this on a A853, my phones spec's are listed below:

    Model Number:
    Milestone A853
    Firmware Version:
    2.1-update1
    Firmware Configuration Version:
    GAS_EMEA_USASHLS00RTNZ_P013
    Baseband Version
    3gsmepu91a_u_91.07.55i
    Baseband Configuration Version:
    USASHLSMR2AUSTB1B2B506B.0R
    Kernel Version:
    2.6.29-omap1

    Build Number:

    Possible issues you may encounter:
    1......
    2. "E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD E:signature verification failed" error after you apply the update.zip in recovery means that you do not have the vulnerable recovery on your phone.
If you applied an OTA update before, there is a script run at every system boot that checks and re-flashes the recovery when its checksum doesn't match. In such case, you have to avoid booting to android after the vulnerable recovery flash. Boot directly to recovery when RSD Lite restarts the phone (hold camera button) and from there remove the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh file.

did you follow this note on the first page of the recovery SBF post?
Make sure you have one of the various recovery update.zip on the root of your SDcard before you flash the sbf. then when rsd reboots the phone, force it into recovery and remove the file from a console or adb shell, or run the script also in the first post.

It worked for me flashing a phone for a work colleague that had previously applied 2.1-update1 over the air.

I never rooted my phone, it's the lastest version of Milestone from Brazil(the one that comes with Android 2.1) so I'm using the RAMDLD 90.78 version of the patch. But how to flash it?

    Yeah. I'm from Brazil

does this image has radio included?

    has anyone has tryed with
    SHLA_U2_03.06.0
    ?
My carrier is Telcel, and they are in 850 band, so my worri is that this update dosnt rewrite the radio, is it safe?

BTW, for those who dont want to use rdlite, you may downlaod z4root from market and it works for rooting your mileston. However it doesnt install openrecovery, it only roots it. It works for me.

my volumen and camera buttons stop working, where may i download the original 90.78 bootloader to restore it?

Firstly, thanks for putting this all up!

On a more unhappy face note, I'm having real trouble actually getting this to flash. I've installed RSDlite and all the relevant drivers (well, the most recent ones on the motorola support page anyway) but it's not acknowledging any phone being there. Anybody got any idea what I might be doing wrong?

    Mine never did
make sure usb debugging is enabled on the phone.
when you power on the phone hold down the power and right on the d-pad when holding the phone in portrait. thei will being you into the right place

from there choose the vulnerable boot loader in rdslite and click start.

Thanks Duandroid! Still didn't work alas . For a second I thought you'd cracked it because I stupidly hadn't checked whether it was in USB debugging but still not working after that either . I'll try and Androidiani as it looks like that doesn't require any use of RSDlite to get going. Cyanogenmod will be working on my phone one of these days...

To make an "unrootable" firmware (2.1, Telus and others) rootable.
NEW: updated with RAMDLD 90.78: vulnerable_recovery_only_RAMDLD90_78.zip

UPDATE: By the initial testing, the phones that come with the 90.78 Bootloader won't let you flash any SBF that contains an older RAMDLD (90.73, 90.74).
On the other hand, there is no problem to flash a SBF containing the new 90.78 RAMDLD on phones with the older Bootloader.
So the new recovery only SBF can be flashed on a phone with any common bootloader.

After you flash this SBF, you will be able to use the conventional update.zip method to root, preferably by using the excellent OpenRecovery.

    Possible issues you may encounter:
    1. If the RSD lite does not activate the Start button after you open the SBF file, you need to rename the SBF file to some simple short name, eg. recovery.sbf, and to put it to some simple short path, e.g C:recovery.sbf (known Windows Vista / 7 issue).
    Code:
    rm -f /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
A script for OpenRecovery is attached (install OpenRecovery and put the script to /sdcard/OpenRecovery/scripts before you flash the vulnerable recovery).
Later in OpenRecovery, the first thing you should do is to run this script from the Run Script menu.
I was looking for solution on exactly the same problem...

Thanks will try and post the details
