nevermind it seemed that it wanted to work this time.
that would be because you did not delete the stock one from /system

Well I went into droid explorer and checked the system folder and I didnt see a recovery folder. So I presumed that there wasnt one.

there isn't a recovery folder but there is recovery.img in there. it is a safeguard moto puts in there. it flashes on every boot if found there.

So if we rename your recovery to recovery.img it will reflash yours every boot, or are there other things it checks besides the name to verify it? not that it probably matters, but just wondering.

When I try the flash_image recovery /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img I keep receiving an error opening /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img: No such file of directory.

It seems like the adb push is not working, but I can not figure out why. Any ideas? Does the file have to be a certain format or extension to be sent to the sdcard? My card has a little more than 3gb of free space. Oh the boot.img is not working for me either, same error. Any help is appreciated.

!!!!after writing this post I thought of re-downloading STK and ADB and all works now, great job j_r0dd.

you'll need to set /system to rw first
    Code:
    mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
should fix it up for you

Got it to work! After getting the "run nandroid-mobile.sh" error after formatting the sd card, plugging in my phone and charging the battery to full, I finally got it to run by formatting the sd card from the phone itself (was using GParted in Linux). Must have been some asinine error that was throwing the whole thing through a loop. Hope this will help someone, I'm now performing a much-needed backup.

What does the "EXT" in the "Nand + EXT back up" mean? How is it different from a regular Nand backup?

    Solution recorded a video

Hey guys i got my phone rooted this week (took me only 1 try and about 2 minutes of actualy work. this is not counting moving files to the phone)

And yesterday i flashed this recovery rom. So after alittle messing around with my friend on Team Viewer, showing him my phone's screen. I restarted my device and as it was booting up it showed up on the program... i was extremely surprised. So i booted into recovery to show him. After i got off team viewer with him i decided to record a short video(no audio) alittle while ago and upload it to you tube

I hope this helps people and helps people see what its like. I didnt do a video of creating a backup or anything. i just wanted to show all the options.

    Great job!

Please Note there are a few skipped frames. The android screencast doesnt have a very good frame rate at this time.

would clockworkmod work as a good recovery too? I think this would be more convenient as you can just flash from the phone using ROM Manager
