Camera zoom CAN'T work at 5m for a simple reason: it doesn't make sense. A digital zoom work cropping the image and scaling up the centered part of the CCD... So this is right.
@j-r0dd
the preview now is finally fluent! But it has a terrible tearing. There's some vsync problems somewhere, I think. Good work however!

J-rodd, I hope the question isn't out of place at this time, but I was wondering if you think the inability to charge/recognize usb is fixable or is a hardware issue. Currently, I'm carrying around an extra battery that I charge in an unused phone with 1.5 on it. But hell, even if it's never fixed I ain't givin' up this beauty! I love it that much and would just deal with it!
Thanks again.

Question: Is the keyboard light fixed to any degree since test 7 or 8? Or is it still the reboot with phone open trick? I'm mostly waiting for keyboard lights to be fixed since I'm a heavy texter... although I don't actually need to look at the keyboard when I'm typing since I have it completely memorized, but it is inconvenient for when I do.

Sounds like.
I would imagine that the phone J_r0dd received is one of the later models as well, although perhaps not.
I guess I'll have have to test it out with my original phone. Kind of a dumb question for you. . .will I have to flash my original to 2.1 before installing the new recovery and CM7, or can I do it all straight from 1.5?
On second thought, strike that. . .I'll ask in the support thread!

maybe it was back during test 10 but the kb backlight was finally fized when u boot up ur phone with the kb closed. there was a temporary fix for it which involved booting ur phone up with the kb open which in that case made the backlights work.
i can confirm that my kb backlights work as of test 13. so i suggest that u should UPGRADE immediately, no reason to still be on test 8/9.
BTW, i flashed test 13 over 11 w/o doing a wipe, everything works great. I not sure what u will fix next but it will be welcomed. as for those who complain that some things arent perfect (for ex. the camera zoom for 5mp), we really have to get over it. this is a great rom no matter what and j_r0dd worked hard to get it fized in a very short time. time will tell only for this ROM to get better. Thx jR0dd for all of your help in putting this amazing ROM together really quickly.

I had the same issues with CM6. Kernelzilla tried a few different things, but I don't think he was ever able to get it to work. I ended up putting Preclair on the newer test model and leaving CM6 on the original model.
I was never able to figure out how many of those newer revisions were out there, but I'm pretty sure that the problem stems from whatever Motorola changed to try and avoid reboots (or coincidentally changed around the same time).New phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY R800a on AT&T
Old phone: Motorola Backflip MB300 on AT&T

Yes, you should flash a different custom recovery j_r0dd posted in the first page. Download it, rename it to recovery.img, put it inside the sdcard folder of your Backflip, and then run the app called "Terminal Emulator"
When you get inside, type this:
If it all goes good, you should see a long string of messages. Reboot into recovery and the version should say 3.2.0.1Code:Su Flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
