    Flashing boot.img for 2.1 (Optus)

I have an optus phone, and I'm looking to flash preclair, but apprently, we need to flash the radio.img as well. I have no idea how to do this. Is there any chance of instructions on how to do this?

Also, if anyone on optus could confirm the radio.img works.

Another question is that if this process is reversible. Apparently we can't flash the radio back to what it was. Can I back up the radio.img that I currently have?

Another thing, I think I've tried before, but I wasn't successful. I can't do anything whilst in j_r0dd's recovery. Do I need to be in some certain screen/mode? Like Boot loader, etc.

I'm on optus and have preclair. I'm only on beta 3, and from what i've read, people seem to be having some trouble with beta 4, so i can't vouch for that, but if you follow the instructions right, everything should work perfectly!

Actually i forgot how to do it. But i think you need to be in the boot recovery? and then install it through there(its a zipped file) then wipe everything and then i think you can install preclair.

If it fails (like me), then do a wipe again and try and install preclair.

BUT you cannot go back to 1.5!!!! Once you flash the new radio. Thats it.

But i think you can use Motorola RD light 4.8 to do a full reflash to 1.5 which may replace the old radio if you need to return your phone back. I havnt tried this with preclair before. But ive used it before on 1.5 to get rid of Superuser just before i send my phone back for repairs(twice).

I know how to reflash to 1.5 firmware with RSD Lite, if all goes wrong, but I'm just worried about the radio. I want to know about the things that are irreversible.

the radio img also updates the bootloader, that's why u can't go back to 1.5 firmware.
My operator runs 3G on 2100Mhz and i think that optus too... read thru the Preclair topic, i think i read some posts from aussies telling that worked for them.
if works, tell j_rodd so he can update the front page on compatible operators.

on the first page of preclair topic u can find links for a step by step tutorial, and some explanation of the italian radio.

I can confirm that everything seems to work fine with the 2.1 rom though you do definitely need to the IT radio image via the recovery menu first.

xStyle: Yes it is very easy :-)

copy to your memory card signed-IT_radio.zip

boot in j_r0dds recovery - then flash this zip file via recovery and youre done.

it is all thanks to j_r0dd and mugedy for signed radio.img zip file.
