Rooted Motorola Backflip: Superuser Automatic Update Failed?
I just rooted my phone so i got the Superuser app. When i opened the app it said there was an update for the su binary, so i hit ok. It said it was checking for an update then a message popped up saying" Automatic Update Failed"," An error occured and su was not updated. A zip file(su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, Please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary". I need help on how to flash it in recovery mode. When i get to recovery mode i hit apply sdcard:update.zip, it says installation aborted because there no such file.( i have pics but they are not the greatest.)

you need to flash a custom recovery. go to the roms section of this forum and flash the custom recovery OR you can go to the market, get an app called rom manager and it will prompt you to flash CockworkMod Recovery. your choice. i like clockwork modd but j_r0dd's one is very good too
RIP Steve Jobs. You will never be forgotten. WIthout you, no android phone will be half as good as they are now. Thanks.

How did you root your phone? It sounds like you may not actually be rooted.

Well the person trying to help me said i should have just used the z4rooted. But i did the steps where u download the Adb, Root, and the other folder i forget what its called then u move it to the c: drive then u do a few things on the command prompt then download connectbot and i did a few things to get the Forked 2037 Childs thing to pop up then i exited put something else in then the # thing popped up.

Ok, so you're possibly rooted, but I doubt you are using the correct version of 'su'.
I would still probably suggest you snag z4root and run it. It should put everything where it needs to be. Once that is done you should be good to go.

Well i think i have the z4root apk file but can u show me how to push it to my phone?

If you have adb setup, which you should...
is the command you would need to use. Depending on how you have everything setup, you may need to copy the .apk file to the directory where your ADB is located.Code:adb install <NAME OF THE APP>.apk

Do you plan on flashing a rom? Such as Preclair? If you do then make a back up and flash the rom, the stock 2.1 doesn't update I believe but j_r0dd's should.

Depends on what you are wanting to accomplish. If you are wanting to flash a custom ROM you'll need to put it on the root of your sdcard and then do a full wipe using the recovery and then flash it to your phone.
Before you do this however, you will probably want to do a nandroid backup just in case anything goes wrong.
