I've rooted this phone, now I'm trying to come up with a custom recovery. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Anyone looking to root this phone just follow these steps.
1. Download & install File Expert from the android market.
2. Go 2 settings, then applications & Enable unknown sources & usb debugging.
3. Download & install Terminal Emulator from the android market.
4. Download & install Gingerbreak.apk using Google.
5. Pun Gingerbreak on the microSD card & install it using File Expert.
6. Open Gingerbreak & click "Root Device"
The phone will restart & is now rooted
Open up the Terminal Emulator, type "su" & hit enter. Choose the allow option to get Superuser Permissions.
I've attached the files needed for convenience, and give 420lyfestylez over at XDA credit for the root procedure and putting everything together.
Thanks again! I found this post by chance while dinking around with the Pantech. I'm kind of new to Android OS scene but have used Linux (Ubuntu, Mint and Slax) for a few years. I like geekity gadgety things. Your post was one of the only useful one's I found on the interwebs. The zip files attachment was pretty handy too! The only difference is I used Astro file manager, which I had installed previously. It only took about 5 minutes to reboot, while I held my breath, but worked like a charm.
