    Motorola Bravo Rooting

OK I admitt that I'm a newbie here for my bravo, I was wondering if anybody could give me any tips on programs that I can use to root my bravo? I d/l'ed z4 to my sd card and tired to run it like everyone said BUT it comes up with file wasn't d/l'ed from trusted site!!!

I need to know a work around on this. Again I thank everyone in advance for any or all of yer help....

I've modded my old and trusty razr like a champ but going to the bravo is another story!

Thank Ye Ole Master (bowing at yer feet now..)for the head up. Will check this out and see what happens. Thanks again.....

OK have a question for the sticky that modnmoto said to use.

    question, where it says

3rd Plug phone via usb to computer and let drivers install.

4th Unpack and open SuperOneClick. Press "ROOT" and wait for program to get done, then press "Allow Non-Market Apps" and wait for program to get done. Then on phone in usb settings I selected "NONE" before disconnecting.

where its says to unpack SuperOneClick and open, do I open this up on my computer or do I just copy SuperOneClick to my sd card and run it from their? I can connect my bravo to the computer and copy files etc now.

Sorry for the dumb (advice) questions but its always better to have it and not need it, and need it and not have it!

No question is dumb! Zip or rar files will be downloaded from site to computer. Run from computer after you hook phone up to computer with usb cord. Nothing is downloaded/installed on phone by you. The program will inform you you dont have Superuser on your phone and will ask to install it. Just click yes and let program do the rest. Hope this clears it up for you, if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

You should change that TITLE FOR THE APP. INSTEAD OF SIMPLE ROOTING, MAKE IT LIKE I HAD. "ROOT AND INSTALL NOON MARKET APPS IN A CLICK."

This keeps getting better and better!!! having a small problem here with SuperOneClick v1.9.1.0
and my Bravo. This is what I get when I fire up SuperOneClick

In the upper right hand cornner on SuperOneClick, for Exploit it says psneuter

Then I hit ROOT and it comes up with the following....

    SuperOneClick v1.9.1.0
    Checking Drivers...
    Failed

    Killing ADB Server...
    OK

    Starting ADB Server...
*daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037*
    *daemon started successfully*
    OK

Waiting for device... < this is where it hangs Not Responding

I can access the phones SD card with Windows Explorer.

Any suggestions on whats going on here?

That happened to me too. Mine was because I didn't have correct driver installed. I had a Windows 7 generic driver and had to go to Motorola's site to get right driver.

We all heard the phase "its not a job!, its f**king adventure!" well in my case it was. At first I d/l'ed SuperOneClick and tired to run it to no avail.

I went back to shorftuse.org thinking I would re d/l SuperOneClick 1.9 because maybe when I d/l'ed something happened to the file. I got on shorftuse.org and he had SuperOneClick v1.9.5 with driver pack (ver I d/l'ed didn't have a driver pack!) for downloading, I said GREAT! this ought to do it.

He also added the following warning:
You NEED to put your phone on USB Debugging mode
You NEED to install make sure the Android drivers for your phone are installed
Make sure you DO NOT mount your SD card.
If you still can’t get something to run, try doing it in recovery mode.

I d/l'ed the newer ver and did what he said, It worked liike a champ!!!!

I then rebooted my bravo and tired to install Z4root, it installed OK! Fired up Z4root and it said the phone was already rooted and ask if I wanted to re-root or un-root?

Question I now have is should I leave well enough alone or un-root and reroot the phone using Z4root? I now can install apps like a champ! from using SuperOneClick.

Thanks again for everyone's input. I really Appreciated everyones input!!!

1st Keep it unrooted if you want to continue installing apps that need root access. If your Bravo ever needs to go back to store for some reason then uninstall apps that needed root access and unroot. If they see your phone has been altered(rooted) they will void warranty. What did you install z4root for? Once rooted any free file manager like "root explorer" or "astro" will let you navigate through phone file system. Also root explorer or titanium back up can be used to uninstall system apps and bloatware. z4root is used on other phones to root the phone however on our Bravo it didnt work. Other than rooting I dont know if it has other functions that can be helpful.
2nd You said "I went back to shorftuse.org thinking I would re d/l SuperOneClick 1.9 because maybe when I d/l'ed something happened to the file. I got on shorftuse.org and he had SuperOneClick v1.9.5 with driver pack (ver I d/l'ed didn't have a driver pack!) for downloading, I said GREAT! this ought to do it." Well the version with the driver pack was the one I downloaded as well, but I still had to go to Motorola's site which in the guide is where it says "go here to download driver for 32bit" and download the correct driver. For whatever reason the driver pack didnt work for me. I never had a driver promt that I could direct windows to that driver pack that came with superonclick. Also there was no installation exe in there I could use to download drivers in to windows. Its all good as long as we share our experiences to help others Also you brought to my attention a few things Ill add to the guide, like debugging, sd card, and recovery mode.

I just wanted to see if it would install Z4root without the "won't install, not from a trusted site" it installed OK, I haven't used the program at all I will see if I can't uninstall it somehow. I didn't install the driver for 32bit, since I could access the phone. All I know is that the newer ver of SuperOneClick worked like a champ! What would you suggest would be the best way to uninstall Z4root? I'll try and get root explorer or titanium back up and see if can uninstall Z4root.

This adventure has really been fun, Learning more each day. Hope I helped someone who might of had the same problem as I did. Thanks Again...

Just use your INBUILT apps manager. GO TO SETTINGS->APPLILCATIONS->MANAGE APPLICATIONS->DOWNLOADED, SELECT Z4 ROOT THERE AND CLICK ON IT. AFTER CLICKING ON Z4 ROOT YOU SHOULD SEE AN OPTION TO UNINSTALL THE APP.
