Will updating my D2G re-enable the sim lock?

Hi,

I bought an unlocked Motorola D2G with a bad ESN from a seller on ebay. The phone works fine (voice + data) in Canada.

It is currently running on the following:

• System version: 2.4.29.A956.Verizon.en.US
• Baseband version: N_01.48.00R
• Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-g700f0cf xrpk47@il93lnxdroid25 #1

Periodically, the phone notifies me that there is an update available (2.4.330.en.US), and asks if I want to install the updated version. I have always clicked "Install Later" so that the update will not be applied because I am afraid that applying the update will re-lock my phone, and would make it useless for me to use.

So would applying the update cause my phone to re-enable the sim lock, or would it remain unlocked?

Hello quasarito,

Once the simlock is removed, it can't be locked again by any updates or sbf. Dont worry and update the D2G.
