this is a clockworkmod fake flash recovery. what this means is that it can work, without removing the factory recovery.
why would you want to do this? because the a7 has a locked bootloader, and access to the boot/recovery partitions are restricted from cwm/standard recovery or android services. HOWEVER, the factory recovery can update the recovery/boot partitions using the write_firmware_image script command. the factory recovery does not have backup/restore or other advanced features offered by cwm.
now you can enjoy the benefits of both, until such time that the bootloader should become unlocked and the recovery/boot partitions accessible as a standard block device/partition.

INSTRUCTIONS:
rename to update.zip and choose "flash update.zip" in stock recovery menu (remeber to press the "home" key to bring up the menu after holding down the power button twice to access the factory recovery menu)
you will instantly see the factory recovery replace with clockworkmod recovery.
the original factory recovery is still intact, and will be booted on next reboot. after that, you may reboot out of the factory recovery to get back to your standard android os.

i have tested cwm to backup and restore okay. consequences are that you will have full access to the 500mb partition instead of the initial 100mb.
there should no longer be any /boot errors or empty backups (not possible presently).
*YOU CAN NOW USE THE FAKEFLASH RECOVERY TO APPLY DEXTER'S *PATCHES* ONLY, AND BESTIALBUB'S UPDATES.*
*dexters roms as they're presently packaged for the factory recovery w/ IMG files will not work with cwm recovery. the write_firmware_image is not supported in the gb source for cwm.

Reason: THANKS
Pzyduck; i had to have a means for backup and restore first before i can post roms. you may have noticed my support is usually limited w/ the suggestion to goto your backup if something doesn't work the way you like; i'm not a programmer. welp, now folks can backup tablet before loading any roms from me. if my roms break the tablet, a backup can now be made available.
incidently, yes, at the least i do have the factory rom repacked into a more standard update.zip for installation and for myself or others to use for modding. i'll save that for posting (and testing) another day.
now i have to re-do the install script for my gapps to work with cwm. ;P

thanks to the folks hitting the donate link. pretty neat suddenly receiving multiple email notices for contributions in a day when i'd never seen any before.
just thought i'd report that ff cwm is fixed and fully working now. i also tested my stock repacked elocity firmware to load, so theres an easy stock rom to load and modify thru cwm.
now i can finally load the cm7 i've been sitting on and get that testing, and start safely release roms and mods, w a real convenient working recovery.
will upload files tomorrow/thurs.
