How To Update Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 to XXJQ1 Gingerbread 2.3.3 Firmware
There have been talks doing the round about the rolling out of the latest Gingerbread update for Galaxy Tab P1000. So, now am sure you too would want to update your device with the same, so yes let’s check out on how you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.3.3. It has been reported that in Italy the update has been rolled out. Last time we saw on how you can easily update your Samsung Galaxy Tab P 1000 with Android 2.2 version with some minor enhancements but now let’s proceed and see on how you can update with Gingerbread 2.3.3 XXJQ1 straight away and also this update is not the beta release or even the test release but it’s a KIES release which some of the Italian users have got. So, any one with their Galaxy Tab P 1000 around the World can update their devices by following the below mentioned instructions.
It’s very important to follow the pre firmware update instructions as well as the instructions to upgrade the Galaxy Tab P 1000 or else there is a high probability that you might even brick your Tab. Also, please note that since this is the official release by Samsung, the warranty will not be void if you update your device with the same. Please note that the build number is XXJQ1 while the base band version is P1000XXJPZ. In a move to make firmware updation simpler and easy to understand, we have listed down the simple and easy to understand steps below so that you will not face any difficulties while updating the Galaxy Tab.
Pre Upgrade Instructions:
- Ensure that you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab P 1000 and not similar looking models like P1010 or even any such other Galaxy Tabs or else you will brick your Tab or some of the functionalities might not work.
- Also, most importantly note that only Network free Galaxy Tabs can be updated with the procedure which is mentioned below.
- Create a backup of all the Contacts, Messages, Applications, Images, and Videos as in the due course of the firmware update your device will be completely wiped which will eventually erase all the things in your phone, though after creating the backup you can easily restore back all the contents including the Call log too which too can be backed up.
- Your Samsung Galaxy Tab P 1000 should be charged to more than 50% so as to facilitate the smoother firmware update as the firmware update generally requires higher battery life though higher the battery life is always better.
- It’s highly recommended to close all the Antivirus programs, firewall software applications including the softwares like KIES etc. as these softwares may prevent the firmware upgradation and also is advised to remove memory card or the SIM card if any so as to further ensure that data is not lost in these mediums.
- Installing this firmware doesn’t mean that you will have to root the device or void the warranty as the only way you can void the warranty is when you Root the Galaxy Tab.
Procedure to update Galaxy Tab P1000 with Gingerbread 2.3.3:
- First up you will have to download the complete firmware package which contains all the files which are related to the firmware update right from the firmware update to the PIT file to the Odin which will be required for the firmware update.

- After downloading the package you will have to unzip to get the same. Please note that you will have to unzip the package after downloading and in the process of unzipping if it prompts you to enter the password then you will have to enter password as “androidadvices.com” and then the files will have to be extracted to the desktop.
- Now, next up you will have to open the Odin’s exe file which is Odin3 v1.3 as shown above from the downloaded package after which you will see that a pop up screen will be launched which will look like the below shown screen shot.

- Up next, just open the Odin, in the Option list as shown below, you will have to check all the options in the Option field which are “Re Partition”, “Auto Reboot” and also the “F:Reset Time”. Now, as soon as you update all the option fields with the check marks as shown in the red circle below, you will have to next choose the PIT file.

- After this you will have to put the Galaxy Tab in the download mode which can be done by holding the volume down button you will have to switch ON the device as shown in the below pictured manner.

- So, now after entering in the download mode as shown in the above screen you will have to connect your device to the computer with the data cable and need to make sure that the ID:COM box glows yellow which means that all the device drivers are loaded successfully and you are ready to proceed for the rest of the steps ahead. You will have to enter in the options as mentioned below, Please note that apart from the below options don’t choose any other options.
Code:PIT – gt-p1000_mr.pit PDA – P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJPZ_HOME

- Now, as soon as the yellow light is turned ON, there you go you can now hit on the Start button after which you will have to wait for a while till the Green colored “PASS” box is not shown up which is shown below. It may take 3-5 minutes to show up this box which is shown below,

o, that’s it you have now successfully upgraded to the new latest firmware of XWJMK Froyo 2.2 version for your Galaxy Tab. Now to simply find via the code whether you have upgraded the firmware or not successfully, all you need to do is to just simply enter in the code as *#1234# after which you will be able to see the device’s version number along with the firmware version in detail easily. Do, let us know if you face or any issues while updating the firmware of your Samsung Galaxy Tab. Do, let us know if you face any sorts of issues as w will help you to get out of the same. Please note that, since you have installed the new firmware you will have to again configure all important settings so as to enjoy the services like before and also you will have to reset the phone once after the firmware update.
Note: In an unlikely event if the firmware doesn’t update successfully then you will have to re follow the instructions to update with the same.

xda has a full GB2.3.6 Galaxy Tab ROM, by Team Overcome, complete with instructions.
CM9 ICS (beta, still in dev, not all features work) for those who want to check it out.
The Overcome mod is solid. If you want to go up to CM9 ICS, you must first upgrade to GB. I must say that CM9 looks very promising. Once they work through all the glitches and finish building the theme engine (no Theme Chooser with CM9, but rather, a theme engine within the settings menu), I look forward to seeing this in an RC form soon. Good luck!Last edited by BigZ1981; 03-08-2012 at 11:48 AM.
