Disconnecting USB - Memory Device Mode

Whenever I have connected my phone to the pc under memory device via USB I have a problem with disconnecting. I select to safely remove hardware on the pc but the phone still says it's connected. Only way I can fix it is to remove the battery. Is this a common issue?

If you're using any external skin whilst connected to pc at mem.device mode, then it's normal and common error.

Select a stock skin before connecting the phone.

Thanks... so if I have it on the default linuxmod skin I should be ok?
