Basic Plus V8 firmware

That is normal and the fault is in the Memory Card USB Setting that does not allow the V8 access to the partitions while they are being used by Windows. Unfortunately the swap memory is on that partition, hence the V8 freezes.
Solution: use FTP, no hang ups, no freezing up, works brilliant.

Any FTP software will do. I use FileZilla, is free and works fine. Or you can even use Windows Explorer.
Set USB Settings to Modem, then connect with USB cable to PC. Now press the USB-Lan menu and "Yes". Now open FTP software and you need these settings:
ftp server: 192.168.16.2
port: 21
username: root
password: root
In Windows Explorer just enter "ftp://root@192.168.16.2:21" in the address bar.
Important path are
The User Memory : /ezxlocal/download/mystuff
2GB Memory: /mmc/mmca1

turn it off in Swap application. it won't start after reboot then.

Thats right!
If you delete the swap file, then there is nothing to be activated at bootup, as only an existing swap file can actived.

I have tried this but it still hangs itself when connected in memory card mode
even after rebooting as many times....
and I noticed when i reboot the phone the "Activating swap" dialog shows up while there is no swap file...

There must be still something that the V8 is using that sits on the User Memory. This is a design flaw in the Memory Card USB Settings. Use FTP, no problem at all with that.

Is the built in music player still available in the Basic Plus firmware. I assume the MPT is also supported?

the skin file i am using is on the memory card,that might be the reason???

FTP works fine but sometimes it disconnects even if the transfer is going on....

Got it,The skin was the reason,i changed it to the stock skin(which is on the phone memory)
Now it doesnt hangs, but now i dont have access to phone memory from my PC
however the memory card is accessible.... previously it was the other way round....
and now the battery charging light has stopped blinking it just stuck but the phone is not hanged..........

yes, that's the reason. change to stock skin if you want to connect in memory card mode, or better use FTP, as rasputin007 suggested.

using ftp server i can see most of the files but not all those i can see with zlauncher on my v8 and most important i can not acces the skin1, skin2,... files in the skin file..plz help
