Hi people, hey ras i upload the MKPG BASIC and have lot of troubles
first the phone become very very slow even if a have the swap at 64 mb, then the app is not working,after reboot the phone i wait 1 or 2 min before run anything with no good and when i want to send a ms the phone freeze every time no matter how many times i remove the battery, so i return to the evo 3 lp swap (this is the firm that i always have) but now the firewall is not working.......... i try to run it and dont show anything any words on it and is always on, with the zlauncher i modify the .cgf and turn it off but.................what can i do to make work fine again?

Normally the swap is set to 48MB in MPKG Basic/Elysseum, so if you had 64 MB of swap then something had gone wrong somwhere.
I have heard about the SMS texting problem with the 512MB V8 and MPKG Basic and Elysseum, however I can not duplicate this on my 512MB V8, as sending SMS seems to work fine.
Evo 3's firewall mod: I never really used this as it , when set up wrongly, freezes the V8. And because I have no need for this app I have no experience with it, maybe somebody else who used this can help you.

When i connect to the PC following your instructions (swap file off, in memory mode via USB) i get a removable drive appear i My Computer, but it only prompts me to insert a drive? Any ideas?

Yes it is the Memory Device or Memory Card setting in USB Settings, they have a fault when it comes to accessing the User Memory while the V8 still uses it.
Use FTP for file transfer.
Forget Memory Device setting.

Does this require an unlocked phone to install the mod?

I've read where, if you install an unlocked mod, to a locked phone it does something like lock it. but what does this mean? if the phone is locked already from switching to another carrier.

since I'm not interested in switching carriers, what mod on this site besides the carrier branded firmware works with locked phones and is not software locked on some programs?

If you flash an unlocked firmware onto a locked phone the phone still is locked.
If you flash a locked firmware onto an unlocked phone, then the phone will be locked to that operator who's locked firmware you flashed.
Have a look at the V8 Firmware Super Thread, there are a lot of unmodded firmwares, but some are branded and locked, so be carefull.

Modded firmwares are 99.9% unlocked.

so, if my phone has a simlock to tmo and I want to install this modded firmware, it will remain locked but able to use the modded one? that's my question.

on the side note: I have to wait a few days to get past the buyers remorse period to get the unlock code. and then I can use the recalculater to unlock the stock firmware for tmo to have on hand.

which one doesn't have too many bugs and works best of the mods here?

I have rzr2 V8 with the latest tmo firmware locked I presume as I haven't tried using an at&t bare sim cards which I have a few of those on hand to see if the phone complains.

there are no Evo 3 applications, because this firmware doesn't support external apps. Basic Plus got its own packages which are compatible only with this firmware. rasputin's ones are included in fimrware archive, others can be found on this forum.

How do you have to write the file extentions when the package manager asks for them (*.ext/.ext/ext) ? and what separator should there be if there are multiple extentions to associate with a program?
And one other thing, do these associations really matter? I mean, if you select let's say an archive in zLauncher, will it then open in arcman?

extensions should be named without stars or dots:

ext
