    Noob question for V8

Hi guys, firstly can i say a massive thanks for all information on this site!!!!!, have used downloads etc here to completely modd v3/v3i and all working fantastically.

Well this may be a daft question but..... Im getting a V8 (not arrived yet so have no tech details), which is locked to t-mobile uk, and i need to use this on Orange UK, so need best way to change network -

    1. Flash from t-mobile locked to Orange locked - although locked, would this means the lock goes from t-mobile to Orange lock? and if I then need to get it unlocked which network would need to be unlocked?

    2. Get it unlocked first and then flash it?

    3. Shout in frustration at the phone?

Any help would be gratefully received...

    Hi mate!

Well, for using your carrier, you have to unlock your phone by paying someone who unlocks phones or by buying a subsidy code.
Donīt unlock it by changing the IMEI.
You cannot unlock your phone by flashing a locked firmware, as you want...

Once you have unlocked your phone, you can use any firmware.

But i guess you want to get a modded phone, isnīt?
So, you need first to upgrade your bootloader version to a3.cf, then flash the NoRsa boot a3.cf and finally, the MP (Monster Pack) that you want. For example, this one: [MP] Linuxmod Fusion 3 Speed

You must select the flash file according to your V8 version (512Mb or 2Gb).

You can not unlock a locked phone by flashing an unlocked firmware.
You also can not change a locked phone from one provider to another one by flashing a locked firmware of the second provider.
However you can lock an unlocked phone by flashing a locked firmware.

So once you got an unlock/subsidy code (look on eBay) do NOT flash a locked firmware, always use unlocked ones.
Which modded firmware you want to use is entirely your choice, try a few that fit your 512MB V8 (T-Mobile UK never had 2GB V8!!! - but might be wrong, so better check!) for a few days and then pick the one that suits you best.

Many many thanks for your reply to my question - information was gratefully received indeed. My v8 is now indeed a work of art in progress - although it has taught me to slow down and really read all post before diving in at the deep end first.

What I did initially was to flash the phone with linuxmod 3a, and this worked well until i realised this morining that the alarm clock did not work - oops late for work. This afternoon I then upgraded the bootloader and flashed Linuxmod Fusion 3 speed, awesome - everything working.

Again I cant thank you guys enough... keep up the excellent work.
