Gamma is a "hybrid" firmware that uses the best features of the Orange Spain firmware as well as the Centennial Firmware.
Why the Name Gamma?
Well Alpha was a patch that flashed after the Centennial firmware has been installed but there was one major problem with Alpha there was no menu access to control the Wi-Fi.
Beta replaced Alpha by including all three major firmwares Fido, Orange and Centennial. Beta worked very well but there were some issues example, if master Clear was to be performed the custom menu would be lost therefore downgrading the firmware to Alpha [bad dog Fido].
Next was Gamma. Gamma dropped Fido and squeezed more Orange juice to the mix making the punch too sweet for the bugs to handle.

Gamma MP for Motorola Z6w

Features:

Wi-Fi for internet use.
Wi-Fi will connect to any available network
No SIM access
Lightly branded (orange)
Ability to change voice mail number
RSA removed MP
Ability to use mp3 files as ring tones etc...


NOTE:
This is a RSA removed MP you MUST remove RSA first



Known bugs:
Phone may send a sms message to +1121611611.




What you will need:

What is needed RSD Lite 4.4.1 or higher
If your boot loader is 06.29 you’ll need to download and install 06.2A [Download]
STOCK Orange Spain Firmware [Download]
noRSA boot loader for Z6w [Download]
Gamma MP [Download]


How to install:

• A

If your phone has the 06.2a firmware, read steps 1&2 and continue to section B.

1. Ensure that the SIM card and Micro SD card have been removed.
2. Be sure that the phones battery is fully charged.
3. Launch RSD lite
4. Press [ * ] [ # ] and power button simultaneously
5. Connect the phone to the PC
6. Click the browse button, go to the location where you had save the 06.2A boot loader file
7. Select the phone and click Start
8. When flash is complete you will now have the 06.2A boot loader

(If you already have the STOCK Orange Spain Firmware installed continue to section C)

1. Press [ * ] [ # ] and power button simultaneously
2. Connect the phone to the PC
3. Click the browse button, go to the location where you had save the STOCK Orange Spain Firmware
4. Select the phone and click Start

If you already have already removed RSA from the phone continue to Section D

1. Press [ * ] [ # ] and power button simultaneously
2. Connect the phone to the PC
3. Click the browse button, go to the location where you had save the noRSA boot-loader flash
4. Select the phone and click Start

1. Press [ * ] [ # ] and power button simultaneously
2. Connect the phone to the PC
3. Click the browse button, go to the location where you had save the STOCK Orange Spain Firmware
4. Select the phone and click Start

• E

1. Press [ * ] [ # ] and power button simultaneously
2. Connect the phone to the PC
3. Click the browse button, go to the location where you had save the Gamma Z6w MP
4. Select the phone and click Start

• F

You’re almost done
Because the firmware has somewhat been de-branded, you will need to do the following:

1. Main Menu
2. Connections
3. Data Connections
4. Add new Connections
5. Change “Profile1” to “Orange World”
6. Change “Wifi, then Cellular” to “Wifi Only” (if you are using the Orange Network leave this unchanged)
7. Press Save and your all done.

so i was able to follow the procedure to go from Fido to Gamma.
seems like the ringtones and alarm tones work for .mp3 thanks.
was able to send and receive simple txt message.

so i have a couple questions.
- When i was set for Fido my wifi connection for UNO calls would display under the logo "Fido" so i knew i was connected for the calling service. with Fido set-up it would auto connect to a saved Wifi... (i pay for UNO so i need it's conenctivity)
- When i followed your procedure it felt like i did the same thing 2 times with flash from bootloader then firmware, bootloader then firmware, then finally the "gamma".
- i think i need to set my voice messages number as the pre-set speed dial and i'm finished.
- i need to setting for the cell too, i tried sending a picture txt message and tried to receive a picture and txt message and neither worked properly.
i look at the settings in the Data Connections if i create a new one i need (as listed in phone)

I could make an unbranded MP for FIDO using the Beta method but I don't know how to make the menu sticky so it can survive a master clear.
Next problem is I don't know how to make a back up of the firmwares that have been modified inside the phone.

well really the only thing i want to do with this cell is have the mp3 ringtone and alarm tone ability.
i like the phone as it's set-up for fido
(i have flashed to put it back to the fido again from gamma)
after that mp3 situation is availible, then maybe some games would be cool, but not needed.
oh and i'd like to better understand how to coduct edits,
do you have some recomendations like look up Linux programming or what computer language are these cell's "made of"? thanks.

This is fantastic! I bought the Z6W last year hoping that something like this would eventually come out. I had almost given up hope, but today I found this thread. I followed the instructions to a tee on my stock Fido phone (unlocked sim), and everything went smoothly. Finally I can get wifi internet on my phone! And working with no sim installed is an added bonus!

A few minor annoyances:
-The stock orange web homepage cannot be changed and the stock bookmarks can't be deleted
-The dedicated "web" button on the phone opens the music browser
edit: also, the pre-installed ringtones and wallpapers can no longer be played or viewed

But those are no big deal. Amazing work .net!!!

I managed to install the Gamma MP and everything works fine but I still can't get the browser working on Wifi (it used to have the default Fido firmware and it was blocked from what I've read).
I can connect to a wifi network but when I try to go on a webpage, it says Error: Network Problem
Am I missing something here?

Did you do step F in the original post? If so, are you sure that the wifi network you are connected to is providing unrestricted internet access (ie. you can connect your laptop to it and browse the web)? Finally, did you try a few different web sites (google.com, etc) to make sure that it's not a problem with the site you're trying to visit? The home page in the phone's browser is on the Orange network and won't work from wifi.

I redid step F and realized I typed in "Orange world" instead of "Orange World".
Made all the difference!

Hello i have flashed the GAMMA fw but callerid isnte working...

does this GAMMA firmware do have the callerid option??

It isnt working for me Can you confirm if thats working for you? How do i enable the caller id on my phone. Its only showing numbers when someone call no photo nor name,
