Firmware Upgrade Newbee Question

Dear Readers,

I'm new to Moto Flashing. I own a Mandarin z6 with stock Firmware Version R60_G_80.33.27R.

My two questions:

- wich version of Firmware is best for z6?

- do the linux mods include some sort of firmware or is this something on top?

Greetings, we must first know a few things, your computer was bought from a vendor of mobile telephony? or is released by subsidy code? It is GSM or CDMA? We get the sbf that corresponds to your equipment, and we know that your current bootloader, you should upgrade to Norse, and I recommend trying Linuxmod3, this only works with GSM, not CDMA.

For the version of the bootloader, you must press * # and power at the same time, that information can begin.

Dear Dark Cricket,

I bought it at ebay (Germany). It was sold as new. It is a device from France (GSM, french provider settings, french user manual, but no branding or logo or simlock). There was some sort of R60_G_80.33.27R firmware on it. Unfortunatly I didn't manage to make a full backup of this firmware before I flashed a new one

I still managed to flash a new bootloader and firmware:

booloader: noRSAa3cc.sbf
firmware: R60_G_80.33.4ER_LP0039B_GSQACENRTDE (German Retail Version)

After this the device was far more usable than with the original firmware.

I flashed linuxmod-4 with the help of this thread:

[BETA] Linuxmod 4 - A Fw to everybody !!

Success but unfortunatly no german language (or did I make some mistake?) So I flashed the German Retail firmware again.

The reasons why I want to do some more modding of the device are the following:

- get more access to the device
- install midlet stuff without cert errors
- get the motosync/exchange sync with gmail working without authentification errors (look at my second thread motosync gmail)
- get email working (gmail imap) without error
- get some cool zStuff

Here you can find some z6 Language packs which include German: ModMyMobile Forums - Downloads - Language Packs

So, flash the LinuxMod, after that, flash the LP in the same way.

Now I have something to play with.

Whats the difference between the "normal" Black Dawn and the "SDHC"? Different Kernel(modules) to support SDHC?

Is it possible to get the voice recognition fully functional with Linuxmod 3 Black Dawn and the German Language Pack?

With the Retail firmware and no Linuxmod there where also voice commands and voice dialing (not only voice activated contacts).

With the Retail firmware and linuxmod 3 Black Dawn firmware flashed ther is only the voice activated contacts left.

Is this some language files outside the language pack?

The difference between the normal and the SDHC is the kernel, with respect to speech recognition, I know how it works, but we can ask to [MENTION=1856501]LuiisM[/MENTION] or [MENTION=2588801]FFede[/MENTION], they could help.
