[Guide] Flashing Linux Motorola's with RSD Lite Versions
The BEST way to flash the Linux Motorola's is to use RSD Lite higher than 4.1
This is the way i Flash my Linux Motorola's
i would not recommend using Flash&Back on any MagX phone
(try to avoid RSD Lite 4.1)
Please DO NOT request ANY RSD Lite
To find the NEWEST RSD Lite search Google or 4Shared
Next, install the NEWEST Motorola Drivers from MotoDev
Now, choose the NEWEST Reflash, that allows External Skin to be added,
Flashing,
Once you have the above 3 your ready to Flash your Motorola, and your Battery is FULLY charged.
Connect the phone to the PC with the USB cable, making sure the phone is in Modem Mode,
(this can be checked by going, Main Menu> Settings> Connections> USB Settings> then select Modem.)
Now start RSD Lite.
wait for it to find your Phone,

Now you need to choose the file you want to flash,

Once you've selected the right flash, you can press Start,
Let RSD Lite go through the Flashing cycle,

Your Phone will Re-Start, DON'T disconnect until the Result is PASS.

Congratulations, You've Flashed Your Phone
Regards Spike
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your having troubles with Windows
Seven/Vista
You need to copy the firmware you want to flash into the RSDlite directory in your program files folder.
Make sure you are in bootloader mode first.
Then, open command prompt and "cd" to the RSDlite directory
eg:
cd C:
cd Program Files
cd motorola
cd RSDlite
now for the flashing type:
where xxxx.sbf is the firmware you are flashing to the phone.SDL.exe -f xxxx.sbf -t 2
flashing will begin shortly afterwards.

As Thomas said No skins as yet,
i could start making them, but we can't test them!!!!!,
they should bee easy to get going,
as their similar to the V8, Z6 & U9,
but we're still having problems with the U9 skins so....
it may be the same with the E8,
but none of those will work mate
but there'd be no way of getting it on yer E8 yet!!
we need a LinuxMod-Type-of-Flash, with external skin additions to be made,
until then....... it's just waiting
thanks mate,
i have so many Noobs to Linux ask how to flash,
so i thought i'd share my Guide,
hope someone finds it useful,
Spike

I keep trying to follow the guide but RSD Lite keeps saying "Fail" error couldn't find interface handle or something like that. Oh btw I'm tryng to do this in Vista. RSD Lite installs no problem. Runs too. Shows phone connected and the phone info but when I press start it fails to flash my phone. What to do now?
Also some of the flash files I've downloaded when I browse to them and select them the start button reamins grayed out. Others allow the start button to be active and when it's pressed they put the phone into flash mode (bootloader) and then "FAIL" and error message in details...!!! Also There never seems to be anything in the file properties field. Is that bad?
HELP...!!! Really really wanna flash...!!! I had an E6 B4 and i flashed it with stuff from here following guide from here. This E8 is giving me hell...!!!
Help again...!!!Last edited by Truth; 09-03-2008 at 01:49 PM. Reason: A little more info.

Hello...There E8 users..I discovered a site http://motofunvn.com/download.html?t...ats&cat_id=124 which is holding...many new files including firmwares and themes but as the site is not in english....there is no proper guide.. ( i think site is vietnamese).....I think those people are modding E8 successfully and using new themes and firmwares....... So modders from modmymoto try to have a look at them

hey spike... is there a way to unlock my motorola U9? i know its a linux based phone and all that but is it possible? other than paying the network provider... i need it unlocked. are you guys working on a way to unlock it? help man...
i also heard that the U9 IS MOTOMAGX, not MOTOP2K, so you can't use P2K programs with Magx.Last edited by shatta01; 09-08-2008 at 10:21 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
