I didn't have to install the drivers anymore. Windows 7 installed them automatically the first time I connected my Z8 .

I am having BSOD's, and my mini dump pointed to my Motorola USB driver as a probable cause (at least that's what a user diagnosed on another forum) based on the date of the driver. I followed your guide, but now in device manager it is showing two different Motorola USB Devices. The Motorola USB composite device shown under the USB subsection (first picture) is the driver that the user told me to update. The Motorola USB diagnostic port, shown under "ports" (second picture) seems to be the new driver. Do I need both, or should I uninstall the old Motorola USB composite device?

I also found a link to (you have to create an account) MOTODEVvia another forum regarding this discussion. They point to (the website) a Motorola USB Driver v4.2.4 for Windows (64-bit) that's dated February 9, 2010. Am I supposed to install this also, or instead of the suggested outdated one?

    Thank you very much,
    Cam

Instead of, not beside. It is better in your case to start fresh, with a complete new driver installation. Somewhere some File seems faulty. And it might not be overwritten, if you just install the new set over the older one.

Apparently what I thought was a driver, that I linked to, is an older version of the driver installation utility (it prompted me and said so upon installing). So, is the driver in the first picture provided above, that is dated 2009, an old driver? I can't find any more info about this anywhere.

    Thank you very much.
