V8 skins can now be created
This newest version of Kview 0.52 can unpack the iconres.ezx file from the V8 and also repack them after editing.
That means you can edit the skin graphics and also the DRM icons for just one skin.

Do not get overexcited!!!
It is just possible to unpack and repack the V8 iconres.ezx, but still quite a way from proper skinning. Lots of trouble with transparency that needs to be addressed and so on.

I hate to say this, but the initial happyness of finally being able to edit V8 skins has been replaced with frustration that Kview 0.52 is not up to do the job.

I have spend the last 3 days testing every possibility I could think of and none worked, apart from one when the files are extracted as bmp files, but then you lose any transparency, which gives a lovely mess with the DRM icons.
So, to sum it up: Kview 0.52 looks like a nice tool, but it can not deliver.

Keep your head up, you'll get there, it's just a matter of time. Just ignore all of us dieing for solution simple because we can't find it on our own.
Keep up the good work, what you have done so far is a rather big step. Just exercise a bit of patience

Hi Tvrtko, nice to see you again. I guess it is that the iconres.ezx was the last major hurdle for V8 skinners, then along comes a software that at first works fine, but then let's you down and that brings out frustration.

Well, what does it say in my signature "Nothing is impossible, only miracles take a bit longer"
You find them in the CG52, which you either mount under Linux and then copy the "default" iconres.ezx which you find in the icon folder or/and copy the skin-specific iconres.ezx which are in the skin folders.
Alternatively you could get a already "mounted" CG52 from this thread or from this thread.
Those threads disappered on page 2 and 3, where not a lot of people look.
