Can you change the start up and shutdown sound

I want to change the startup and shut down sounds on my V3re, Can it be done and if so what do you have to do?

Take mp3 you want and rename.Just copy and paste these names on the mp3s u want to use then drop them in the audio folder.
Power~down
Cust_Start~up
-All startup and power down sounds must be loaded with this title
-Failure to do so will result in nonworking startup/shutdown sounds.
-If it doesnt work will need to do this seem edit.
offset 22 (01 for custom startup sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Start~up.mp3, 00 for no custom startup sound), may need to adjust 0032_0001, offset 24, bit 3
offset 23 (01 for custom startup in stored seems 0206/0208, 00 for no custom startup)
offset 24 (01 for custom shutdown sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Power~down.mp3, 00 for no custom shutdown sound)

did renaming them and putting them in the audio folder work? If it does then no seem edit needed.

No, it did not when i restarted the phone i didnt hear my custom tone or the att sound. It played the motorola sound

Remember to back up files before you change anything. Make a copy and change the copy leave the org alone. I use pktools.
1 goto seem editor
2 where it says seem type 004a
3 where Rec is type 0001
4 press load from phone
5 then save to desktop (dont forget to make a copy)
6 with mike 10's seem changer press select file and load seem
7 where it says offset type 23
8 press read offset (bit,state,value all 0)
9 goto read offset again type 24
10 press read offset (bit-0,state-1,value-1)
11 press set bit or value
Go back to pktools and load the changed seem to pktools. Then save to phone. Now put that Cust_Start~up and Power~down mp3 in /a/mobile/audio folder (I use mexplorer for that). Wife got a brand new razr yesterday and I did this process successfully a few minutes ago, her phone doorbell rings on startup and tugboat horn on powerdown. Hope this helps. Its really easy and never give up youll figure it out and have it modded just how you want it.

Whenever i try to use the seem changer it says: Seem cannot be found. Any ideas on what is wrong?

The seem changer in pktools says this or mike 10's seem changer isnt reading the file?
If pktools says it then make sure in the lower left hand corner of pktools it will show a green light and will say connected or V3re or both dont remember exactly, if it doesnt then pktools isnt seeing your phone. Might be a driver issue try finding Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.3.0 for motorola phones and installing on your computer. Or maybe a corrupt pktools try downloading and installing again. The exact version I use is P2KToolsVS_3.0.7.759updated_by_mmuk. Might be simple as in seem box make sure your typing the correct seem to look for 004a and in Rec box 0001, or connection order. Try openeing pktools first then plug in phone or revers this. I remember having connection issues in the beginning also and remember someone saying to get a copy of rsdlite, run program and leave running in background then open other programs you might try this also. Let me know if this doesnt help.

It was mike 10's seem changer that was giving me problems.

Try to extract the seem again, save directly to desktop, press select file, when the open window pops up you should see the seem on desktop, make sure file types its looking for say SEEM Files (*.seem).

have you tried m-explorer? if im not mistaken with this program you can drag and drop into the audio folder, but the name of the file has to be exactly as it is in the directory. you will see it...just replace it with your own mp3 sound.

yes you did but i don't think you mentioned which program to use. for me m-explorer is the easiest.

I have an odd problem in that following various guides I have gotten this to "mostly" work halfway. I edited the mp3's down to 4.5 seconds each, did the seem edits, renamed exactly and copied to a/mobile/audio.

Upon shutdown, Power~down plays about 2 seconds (approximately half the file) but there is no sound at all on startup. I've tried both Cust_Start~up (as suggested in all guides and posts) and Start~up (as that was the filename originally on the phone)--naming with the "Cust_" prefix had absolutely no effect while "Start_up" at least removed the original sound (resulting in the current silence).

Salient points I can think of:
I have re-encoded all my mp3 ringtones to 64 bps to save space.
I used Audacity to edit the length of the original sounds.
Both files work perfectly when "tested" in the [Style] Detail ringtone selection menu.

Any ideas or suggestions?
